I like the spikes to hold whatever your carving, but not heavy gauge.
It's large enough for a turkey, great but thin, and the knife and fork are pretty much useless, very then, no weight to thin and will probably not get used.
The jury is still out on this one. There are things I like about it and things I don't like. First of all, a quick description of the item. This is a tray that is intended for carving meat, specifically chicken and turkey. And it will work well for those purposes. It came with a knife and fork, both of which are of decent quality, but probably not the best knife I have in my kitchen.I like that the tray has enough depth to catch the juices, preventing a mess. But what don't necessarily like is the presence of four metal spikes, that are intended to hold the meat in place while you cut it. Normally, I would place a small cutting board in this tray so that my knife is contacting the cutting board and not metal. However, I suppose if you are just using it to carve a turkey, it would work fine. But when I cut a chicken I half or quarter it. This means that I am going through bones and the knife will contact the bottom of the tray. Iron sharpens iron, but a steel knife on a stainless tray means a dull knife. So my assessment is that it would be good for carving a turkey, but not necessarily good for my uses, which would be quartering a chicken or cutting ribs. I do think it would work well to shred a smoked Boston butt with claws.
Overall, a nice set with the tray, knife and fork. The tray is just deep enough to catch the juices. The knife and fork are a decent set for carving.
