Really like these. Look pretty too
I was looking to replace all my black nylon utensils with silicone and I already had a couple of Spoonulas from this company that I was very happy with, so I bought a full compliment of spatulas, spoons, turners, tongs, and a ladle, all in this pretty green. I love them and use them every day. They clean up so easily and are durable.
I hated our old black fiberglass-reinforced nylon tongs, which had no locking mechanism and didn't grip foods securely, and rarely used them, reaching instead for my stainless steel locking tongs with scallop-edge pincers and trying to avoid letting the metal tongs inadvertently touch, and potentially scratch, my nonstick-coated pans. So, when we decided to buy two sets of Copper Chef Black Diamond nonstick pans (which are awesome) to replace our old nonstick cookware, I decided to look for some silicone-tipped tongs to protect our new investment.I own several OXO Good Grips kitchen gadgets and utensils and like them, so my first inclination was to buy their silicone-coated scalloped locking tongs. But when the pretty teal color of the silicone on these StarPack Premium tongs caught my eye and I saw that they had thousands of 5-star reviews, I decided to take a closer look. The price of these was significantly lower than the ones I had intended to get, and I liked the idea of having two pairs of tongs, so one would be available even when the other was in the dishwasher. I appreciated the thoroughness of the description and other information on the Amazon product page, and I prefer buying from family-owned companies, as well as businesses that have enough confidence in their products' performance to offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. My husband and I really enjoy using these kitchen tongs, and often choose them even when we're cooking in pans without a nonstick coating. Plain scalloped stainless steel locking tongs grip more securely than those coated with silicone, since the sharp metal scallops "bite" into the food a bit. But the lack of sharp edges also makes the silicone-coated tongs safer to use, as well as much quicker and easier to clean. And when I'm pan-frying just a few breakfast sausages in a small skillet, for example, I prefer the shorter pair of tongs, although both pairs are very comfortable to use and thoughtfully designed. The locking mechanism is extremely smooth and easy to operate (although it does require two hands). To open the locked tongs, push in the silicone-coated ring. To lock them again, pull the ring out. (Don't pull hard!) Being able to unlock and lock these tongs with very little force is a significant benefit for people (like me) who don't have much grip strength. We've been extremely pleased with the quality of both the materials and the manufacturing. Highly recommended!
I purchased these tongs to replace a pair of old, terrible plastic ones that I used for years, cursing under my breath (and sometimes not under my breath) each time I used them. They never opened enough to fully grasp whatever I needed then they never fully gripped whatever I needed them to keep hold of. I had quite frankly had enough! That's when I began searching Amazon for a replacement. As Amazon addicts know, there's no item so large or small that checking specs and reviews isn't a worthwhile endeavor before placing an order. And I am both an AA (Amazon Addict) and a complusive researcher so comparing is in my soul. Who knew there would be so many choices? So many varying features, sizes, materials. But when I found this SaPack Premium Silicone 9" Kitchen Tong, I knew it would work perfectly for me. The reviews were great, they were the right size, plus they looked good. Order made! When they arrived, it was a few days before I could use them but once I did, I gleefully tossed my old ones in the trash. The shape of these tongs is perfect. They aren't flat but elongated bowl shapes. The serrated edges and the ease with which they respond to my grip made it easy to pick up and release everything I used them with. The silicone appears thick and covers the entire working end of the tongs. The area where one grips the tongs also provides a silicone grip. Then the locking mechanism makes storage easy and prevents the tongs from flinging themselves around when resting them between uses. I know there are two sizes, this being the smaller of the two, but it's perfect for me. And last but not at all least, they look good.Whether you're an excellent cook or someone who just barely gets by, having tools that work well and look good make cooking more pleasurable. I wouldn't suggest spending your last dollar buying new tongs but I would recommend that, if it's not going to wreck your budget, you get good basic tools for the things that you do often. You'll feel better while cooking and maybe you'll experiment with some new new dishes or your old standbys will just be easier to make, look nicer and taste better, too.
I have been pretty satisfied with these. They are a nice size, fairly sturdy, offer a good grip, the silicone seems very durable (and is nice for nonstick!), and the open/close lock mechanism works well to where they stay open when you want and stay closed when you want. After about 3 months of once a week or so use, and using the dishwasher, I have noticed that the spring itself inside the top joint is starting to show signs of rust. I expect that it will eventually rust completely. I can't say I'm too disappointed at this price point (and with the supposed lifetime warranty -- untested by me personally, but sure they will honor as long as they're around), and given that I actually bought these to replace some high quality all clad tongs that did the same thing to where the spring eventually did rust completely through (after years) (which they did warranty without issue).Rust on this spring seems like it's probably an inevitability as I think the spring steel used as a spring is inherently not stainless? Inevitable or not, and even though it's purely cosmetic, it would be nice to not have them starting to rust (even a little) after 3 months, so I have to take a star off. That being said, I'd recommend these, and buy them again if needed, because I do think they are a great value.
Really sturdy
Love these tongs, needed ones with silicone tips, these are very nice, well built
