Bigger than I though, but good quality

Not the finest wok, but it's a very good value and is better than average. The 12" is larger than I though, might should have gotten a smaller one, but we cook with a wok most of the time, so we are able to fill it up sometimes. Came seasoned, although I strongly recommend hitting youtube, and seasoning it again with some pork fat, then salt, and be sure to clean and treat it properly to keep it from sticking. Works great on an inductive stove top.

Carbon steel, like cast iron, needs some special care, but it's not as bad as you think.But it's also not as non-stick as they claim if you don't know how to use it.It's basically like stainless steel, but over time becomes a little more slippery.1) first heat the pan slowly2) after the pan is hot, add the oil (or butter)3) LET THE OIL GET TO FULL TEMPERATURE4) then add the food5) ALL food sticks until it is mostly cooked, then it releases6) there still may be some stuck bits of food, but you can "deglaze" the fond with water or wine to make a nice flavorful saucemodern dish detergents are mild enough, you can wash with them without ruining the seasoning.But mostly, you use a chainmail cloth or scrubber to get off all the big bits, wash it with soap, dry it (don't let it air dry) and put another thin coat of oil on it. Heat it until it smokes, then turn off the heat and let it cool before you store itDo this, and it will become more and more non-stick over time.This pan is a GREAT base to start that. the flat bottom design lets you cook things like steak while also letting you do stir fry with pushing the food up the sides to prevent burning. It's thick enough to retain good heat when you lift to stir, not too heavy.Overall, it works like it should and seems like a great value to me.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
