Saves time and perfect flies
First used for large party I was having. Went through 20lbs of potatoes. Works great but you do need to have some arm strength. I could do it just fine but my wife, no way. If you can bench 135 lbs, this should be no problem, otherwise get a vertical one where you can use your weight to pull down.

Time saver
Good for slicing vegetables into sticks. Makes nice fries of potatoes and sweet potatoes. I cut myself on the side panel, so be aware that those edges are sharp. Does take a little heft to move lever and cut , but still a timesaver. Really kind of a “ do we really need this” item , but useful for it’s purpose.

Game Changing Goodness
I love French fries and sweet potato fries. I’m also a fan of food preservation and recently started freeze-drying foods. Apple fries are now a HUGE part of our life. And there are other items like fruits and vegetables that I’ll be using this machine to cut for preservation. I’d purchased a different product, and it didn’t pass the sweet potato test, so I was anxious to see how this French Fry Cutter from Sunvivi would hold up.The Pros: The downward motion to press is much better than my other model which had a sideways motion. While the Sunvivi wasn’t 100% smooth the suction cup feet held to my countertop much better. One leg did pop up repeatedly, but I put a little water on the counter, and it held better.I like that I could let the fries drop onto a plate, so it was easier to collect the food I’d cut. And the fries came out very nicely when I could get them fully through. I think it will take some experimenting to find the “sweet spot” when it comes to cutting yams. The ability to switch plates is amazing. Seriously, two screws and I was able to change the plates much easier than with the competitor’s model. No extra pieces, no butterfly nuts to unscrew and then replace. No extra washers. This made changing the blades much better and faster.I appreciated the cut proof gloves that came with it, and it has the standard brush to help you clean it.The Cons: Sweet potatoes are still the issue. I just feel that every product is going to have issues with a very firm root vegetable. BUT, I realized that if I pull the handle down and then rapidly do it a second time, it does get through the potato. You have to be prepared to put some umph behind it! I ended up stuck a few times and twice just used a knife to cut the yam out of the cutter. Once I figured out the double tap method, it was much easier, not easy, but easier. It handled carrots like a dream, and in general, went through apples like butter.I’m not a huge fan of the arm, only because it’s not a super tight connection between the pins and the pushing block. The arm seems to wobble a little when I was using it. And it doesn’t “feel” as secure of a motion.Storage is going to be a problem. And here, I’m going to sound a little hypocritical, but I wish the legs were wider apart. I would love to be able to cut and have my veggies and fruits drop into a bowl so that I could keep them from browning by dropping them right into prepped lemon or citric acid water. But, having said that, you’d better have a nice large shelf or cabinet space, because this baby is not going into a drawer.Overall, I like the Sunvivi French Fry cutter, and I’ll continue to use it more than the other. It really is a nice quick way to get fresh fries, or veggie sticks without manually cutting them. And I do love the uniform sizes so that they cook evenly. I’m determined to get the yams to work better for me, and I just need to go with smaller yams in the future to see if the motion works better.
