Slots are nice and big for all the knives my other knife block can't fit. Top slot allows for a cleaver - first time I've seen and had this, mine fits perfectly. Holds my extra large steak knives. Really helped clear up my cutlery draw.
This allows me to counter-top knives under the upper cabinets. I have only 18 inches between counter and cabinet, so The ore upright styles did not allow me to remove a knife from the block when in place under the upper cabinet. This block has enough of an angle to it that I can pull the knives out for use with ease. The trade-off being the block does protrude more into the counter space. But for me that was preferable to having to move the knife block every time I wanted a sharp knife. I may turn the block 'sideways' to reduce the loss of counter depth, but have not tried that yet. I also like that the knives rest on their sides, not on the cutting edge. And the teak wood is very pretty, nice natural medium tone wood. Not terribly heavy either, as the ventilation slots help reduce some of the weight I think.
I recently moved into a new place and did not own a knife block, and after buying a few quality knives knew I needed to invest in something to keep them out of my drawers. The storage capacity in the block here is higher than my needs with multiple slots of steak knives, chefs knives, santoku, fillet, and even a spot for a rod sharpener. The slits on the sides look nice but functionally I am unsure if they work well as I recently ran into an issue. The product itself looks beautiful, but recently the front face has developed a sort of "chipping" where it looks as if the veneer on the front is cracking between the individual slots. I'm unsure if water or the tips of my knives scraping this was the issue, but despite being real wood it hasn't held up too well. All my knives fit well with extra space on the tip end and the height is fairly standard where it won't interfere with your kitchen cabinets above. Overall it looks nice and likely will last for years, but after a short period mine is already imperfect which is a bit disappointing.

Was hoping this would be a great product. I bought some knives that are rather beefy and while this block does have nice wide slots, the quality was extremely poor. Glue was inside every slot, the work was crooked. Definitely not worth it.
It was a gift. They loved it. Height was good for under cabinet counter top.
