Amazing cup, worth the buy
I know this is long, but I cover pretty much every aspect of the cup. Moral of the story: Buy the cup. It is definitely worth it.I got the 30 oz this cup on October 5th and have been using it daily since then. I put cubed ice in up to the area where the lid goes around 8 AM every morning. So far, there has only been one or two days that I did not wake up the next morning with ice still in the cup, and that is because I had been refilling it with room temperature soda instead of refrigerated soda. Yesterday, I never refilled it after my first glass of sweet tea, and I still had most of the ice left this morning when I went to dump it out to begin all over again. Most days I refill my cup 4-5 times, and it stays on my bedside table at night in case I wake up thirsty. The next morning, I usually still have about a third to half of the ice left.As far as hot beverages are concerned, I have only used my cup for that once. I had hot chocolate around Thanksgiving. We use one of those electric kettles to heat the water and then use Swiss Miss if that gives you any indication of how hot it was going in. I can't drink super hot liquid which is why I mostly just use this for cold drinks, but I think it was a good 3-4 hours before I could drink it comfortably because it stayed so hot. It was still quite warm after the hot chocolate had been in the cup for about 8 hours. When you fill the 30 oz cup with as much regular cubed ice as can fit with the lid on, you can still get a whole 12 oz can of soda in there and put the lid on. It is real close to the top, but most of the time I don't have an issue with it overflowing when I put the lid on.When I bought it, I wrongly assumed that it would come with both of the lids pictured and the straws. Not a huge deal, but it felt a little like false advertising. The leak-resistant hammer lid is pretty good. I have it full of sweet tea and ice right now and just turned it upside down with the lid closed and no leaks. The lid didn't even budge. There is a tiny hole in the lid for air to escape while you are drinking so it doesn't create a vacuum, but I think I've only had a couple times where anything came out of the hole. The part that plugs up the drinking hole is more like a rubber with a tight fit, so I don't see that part failing. If you have a full cup and you open the lid, there may be some liquid on the rubber part of the lid. If you don't wipe it off, it's about the top of your nose/forehead area, and it may transfer to you.I have a military MOLLE style backpack (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KJMXLOK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) that I use for work that has a drink pouch (unfortunately, it doesn't look like Amazon sells it anymore for me to show you) attached to the side. The cup fits in the drink holder, and even swinging the backpack onto my shoulder in the drink pouch (lid closed obviously), I have never had anything spill. It does fit in a normal car cup holder even for being a larger cup, which is nice.I have only ever hand washed it, so I couldn't say anything about the design or cup standing up to a dishwasher, but haven't had any issues with the design fading/scratching/etc. It has gone to work and football practice. I'm not very gentle with my things, and the pictures are from today. So, I feel pretty confident that the design will live up to the wear and tear.Cons - The only things I will say is that the are that holds the lid to keep it open does seem to be getting looser. It is just a plastic piece that loosely holds onto the winging lid part. I feel like at some point, it may not hold the lid open anymore the more I use it, but so far it's held up fine. The other issue is that there is a small gap between the lid and cup even with it fully pushed down. Some liquid gets in there when you drink. If you don't wash your cup and lid every day, there will be some build up or whatever that you will want to clean off, wipe off, wash off, etc. This cup is absolutely amazing and worth every penny. I even bought a batman one for my girlfriend, but she doesn't use hers as much as I use mine.
