Pleasantly Surprised!
I've had an Orville Redenbacher Presto Powerpop microwave popper which I've loved. I purchased it when it became known how toxic the microwave butter fumes could be in prepackaged commercial products. After DECADES of use the lid cracked. Parts weren't available so I was just going to replace it. This type caught my eye so I decided to take a chance on this instead.Pros:Pops evenlyLarger capacity than the prestoNo odd smells or flavors from the siliconePerfect, non-burned kernels using included instructionsNo ongoing investment (I don't have to buy replacement power pop concentrators)Cons (or pro depending on the person)Instructions indicate popping with oil will cause the silicone to scorch. I usually pop with ghee. (BUT, since oil is not used, easier cleanup, and multiple uses before cleaning.)I don't have to worry about someone putting the bottom of the presto popcorn maker in dish water, and it will be much easier for my family to use as they just have to fill to the line, add the lid and push the popcorn button on the microwave for popcorn perfection. Having to melt butter in a separate container is a minor annoyance, but ease of cleaning overcomes that.I do have some concerns over silicone and high heat, and it's too soon to know how durable it will be or long it will last long term, but at this time it has exceeded my expectations and I recommend this product. If it fails then I'll return to my old stand by.
