This is such an easy rolling pin to use. It does look like a plain dowel because it's very long. This mattarello is smooth and is exactly as I need to roll out sfoglia when making pasta, larger pie crusts, and cookies.The quality is good, it looks attractive in my pantry and performs as needed. I like it! I need a small and tiny rolling pin and this is the perfect size. I already did cookies and cake. It is ok for small quantity of dough. I usually used a bigger one to make pasta, but now I will use it for make pasta too...it will take a little bit more.

So much more useful than typical fat American rollers, this reminds me of what my family used when I was a child. It is typical of Italian and French kitchens and much more broadly useful than the fat middle with handles design in most American kitchens. Add that is is easier to clean and takes up no space and it is by far the best rolling pin out there.
