The first unit I received did not register accurately, the replacement does.
The first TP-15 that I received did not register the temps accurately. The ice water test never got below 41.6 F. I "keyed" to the temp problem when a meatloaf that I was cooking never registered hotter that 71.4 F. in my gas oven that was set for 425 F. and had been cooking my food for almost 30 minutes; which was plenty of time for the beef to be about done to 160 to 165 degrees F. which was my "target" temp. I soon received an email from ThermoPro asking how I liked my TP-15 and if everything was alright with the unit. I replied by describing the huge error in temp readings. The gentleman who was emailing me replied by asking me to verify my shipping address because they were processing a replacement unit to send to me. I sent the info and he answered back that the replacement unit was being shipped I received that replacement in no time at all. I had also asked him how I was to return the defective one and he said that I did not have to return it. I'm currently giving THIS TP-15 a four-star rating because it was so inaccurate. I took the average of the total number of stars I'd given which resulted in3.6, the rounded UP which gives 4 When the replacement unit arrives and it tests out correctly, as it should, then I will return to this posting and update it. I fully expect to be able to kick it up to 5-star rating because the manufacturer, Thempro builds excellent quality thermometers. This TP-15 is solidly built. NO loose probe; the body has NO looseness at the seam, etc. The pressure buttons and the read-out screen are firmly set in place with no movements except the necessary movements of the button in use.Now, let's talk about the winers and complainers who've posted negative comments about ThermoPro having a terrible warrentee. I'll bet you a dollar to a doughnut hole that they registered their units with Amazon. The owners booklet specifically states that the units MUST BE REGISTERED ON THE MANUFACTURER'S WEBSITE NOT AMAZON. Did you people get that? Amazon is an intermediary in the sales process. They are NOT a warrentee insurer. I registered my TP-15 AND my TP-17, dual probe thermometers ON THE MANUFACTURER'S WEBSITE just as the owner's manuals told me to do. I've gotten so sick and tired of the winers and complainers who simply do not read directions and want to blame the manufacturers. I'm 71 years old and have had a belly full of those people. I think they're called "snowflakes" in today's vernacular, but MY name for them is quite different and Amazon probably wouldn't allow me to post what I really call them. lololol. Anyway, folks. Buy ThermoPro's products, register them on THEIR website, and you'll be happy campers. ThermoPro stands firmly behind their products. If there's some problem with a unit, they'll correct the situation.....and quickly. Oh, and my TP-17 Dual Probe thermometer registered a consistant 32 F. on both probes in repeated ice water tests. It registered 1 C. on each of those tests, but I do not worry about one lousy degree C. I do not use the Celsius scale on anything. I only use the Fahrenheit scales. The only people who might want or need that one degree Celsius would be some research laboratory. My kitchen is not a laboratory although some folks might think it is. lolololI am returning to upgrade my review to a 5-star because of the excellent response that I've received from the seller. ThermoPro immediately shipped a replacement TP-15 just as soon as I contacted them about the bad first unit. I had followed their instructions about registering my TP-15 on their manufacturer's website (which took all of 30 seconds or less) and they fixed my problem right away, just as they advertise. THANK YOU THERMOPRO. This new unit is working as it should and I can now have a fast read on the meat temps while I'm monitoring the cooking with my ThermoPro TP-17 Dual Probe meat thermometer. The absolutely best of both worlds. I plan to order their grill mat next. This company absolutely stands by their products, so I have no reservations about buying any other of their products.BUY ThermoPro...........excellent products from an excellent company. And I do NOT have any connection with ThermoPro except for being a well satisfied customer and a repeat customer at that.
