Won’t cook without this!
I prepare a lot of pork, chicken, beef, and fish outside on my grill and my smoker. I want to monitor the meat as it cooks, then pull it when it reaches the proper internal temperature. This probe works very well for doing those spot checks. It has a built-in magnet that allows me to stick it to the microwave next to the stove for easy access while cooking indoors. I’ve been very pleased with this thing and have used it often over the past five years.Recently I took it outside to check the temp of some chicken thighs I was grilling. When I opened the probe to turn it on, the display only showed a line of dashes. I turned it on and off a few times with no change, so I replaced the batteries. Still displayed nothing but dashes. I was a bit unhappy because It’s never failed me over the years.I got online and went to Thermapro’s website and saw that others had reported the same issue with their probe. I reported what happened to my item and sent them the Amazon order number. Lo and behold, they sent me a new orange probe (just like the original one) free of charge! I can’t be more delighted with the Thermapro probe and with their customer support! I highly recommend their products and their service. Thank you Thermapro!

Simple, fast, lots of nice features, and operates on 1 AAA battery.
Review of ThermoPro TP19H Digital Meat Thermometer for Cooking with Ambidextrous Backlit and Motion Sensing Kitchen Cooking Food Thermometer for BBQ Grill Smoker Oil Fry Candy Instant Read ThermometerThis is the first digital meat/candy thermometer I’ve owned. I looked at quite a few on Amazon and read many reviews as well. This one was reasonably priced and had lots of good reviews. It seems to do everything that it says it will do. I like that it folds up to be more compact and has a magnet. I placed mine on the underside of my hood fan. I like the meat temperature guide that is printed on the side. The readout reacts quickly. There is a hold button so that you can lock in the readout. It is backlit. This is simple to use. It says it is waterproof, but the gasket inside the battery compartment is very thin, so I don’t think I will be submerging this in dishwater, just to be on the safe side. I like that the readout has a sleep and wake feature. It rotates 180 degrees for lefties as well. It arrives already calibrated but says you can recalibrate it if you so choose. I chose to take their word for it since I have no way to measure the temps anyway. One of my favorite things about this one is that it takes a regular AAA battery. Many of the others I looked at took a button battery and some were rechargeable. I prefer a commonly found battery. It’s easy to grip and hold onto. I am pleased so far.

Strongly recommend; quick, sturdy, reversible readout, and the backlight stays on for 15 seconds.
Love, love, love this thermometer. It is hefty and sturdy and easy to handle (some of them are so lightweight I feel in constant danger of dropping them in the oven, as I often am holding them while wearing my thick oven gloves). The temp reading is fast, and is reversible on the screen in the event that I change hands. The backlight stays on for a good 15 seconds, which I really need, being old and slow. The last one I got (and am returning) stays on only four seconds, which I find is pretty standard and is simply not long enough for me; to keep pushing the "on" button is a hassle and annoying. I strongly recommend this thermometer.

Almost Great
Cons:1. Slow. Takes longer to get the true temperature. (3 seconds)2. Need a tiny Phillips screwdriver to change the batteries. Said screwdriver included, along with a dead battery. Expect I’ll loose the screwdriver long before the new battery dies.Pros:1. Screw battery compartment is a pro and a con. Plastic click and/or slide types don’t last. That’s what happened to my last two. Also, the point of a knife will work if you loose the screwdriver.2. Magnetic. Stick it near where you need it. (magnet is padded so it won’t scratch)3. Only the two important buttons are on the face, back-light and hold.4. Turns on when you open it, off when you close. Also turns off if you leave it open.5. Auto-rotate. Not really a big deal, but it’s cute.

Easy to Use and Appears Accurate
This updated version is excellent. It is easy to use, easy to clean, and appears to be accurate. I'm glad that I replaced my previous thermometer. Just be prepared to replace the battery when the thermometer arrives. Although it was great that one was included, it was dead.

Worth the price, would buy again!
So far, so good! I love that there is a mini screw driver included to assist with putting the battery in, which is behind a screwed cover. Very nice touch. I’ve only used it once so far to cook steaks, and it was helpful and did a nice job registering the temps and the steaks were great!I also lime the auto on\off feature when unfolding\folding the probe.I would definitely buy again whether for ourselves or as a gift.Last thing, and this is not a negative, but rather something I did not think about until I used it. The only thing that would make it better, and also more expensive, is a simple app connection to read the results easier. The only only reason for this is due to the way I cook and used the tool, the display was pointed away from me. Again, this is a user issue and not a device issue. 5 stars for sure!On a side note, I also own a Meater 2 Plus, which I love, and this reader was on point, within +/- 1 degree of the Meater. That is a nominal difference which is easily accounted for by probe placement and or the fact that the Meater has multiple sensors and averages the temperature.
