Thia item seems great. However, be careful of buying block cheese from your local store brand. Sometimes the block is too tall/too wide or too tall for the board. You may have to hold the block on an angle to slice the wider ones. But it's very solid, has the nylon feet to stop any slide on the counter, I believe this item is worth every penny spent.
It is everything is said it is. Heavy stone and bamboo. The slicing wire works well and cuts very well. As long as you cut with care and align it, it should last years.

Excellent craftsmanship. Attractive & does a good job cutting through cheese. Included brush for cleaning & replacement wires which was an added bonus.
The wire that cuts, the cheese would not align with the cutting ridge. I had to do some adjusting.
This well-made cheese slicer with marble base is an attractive and useful addition to the kitchen. It's heavy enough to stay in place during use, but small enough that it's easy to store in a kitchen drawer or cabinet. The bamboo base is very nice and the rubber feet keep it from sliding around the counter top. The wire cutter works OK on soft and medium texture cheddars and similar cheeses, but struggles on the gourmet, dry white cheddar blocks. The wire isn't quite thin enough to cut through the white cheddar without causing crumbling. It does come with several replacement wires. A sharper, wire blade would be a good addition to this set. It's easy to use and sturdy enough that it should last for years of service.
