I’m new to making tofu at home and wanted to give it a try, so I got this press—and it’s been great so far! It’s all stainless steel, solid, and really easy to use. The design presses evenly and gets out all the extra water without cracking the tofu. Cleaning is simple, and it’s nice that it’s dishwasher safe. Definitely happy with this purchase!
PRO: Very sturdy and the ratchet compression adjustment is great. If you look at a lot of others they have wimpy cross bars and such. So do watch for that. This isn't sexy but it IS very sturdy.NOTE: The compression (top) plate doesn't have clearance for cheese cloth etc. So it needs to be put in loose or just fold up the cheese cloth on top before installing the compression plate. So you should either drain and squeeze outside and then put in - or put in and drain in it.NOTE: You should use cheese cloth otherwise paneer for example will get squished out the side and bottom slits.NOTE: I think it is good that the slots and holes are their size as smaller holes/slots would be far harder to cleanNOTE: The XL only gets you under 1" in length - for a HUGE increase in price.NOTE: If one makes a LOT then this is a similar quality alternative: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DJQXGQG2 . But do read my review there - this alternative requires 1.5" of spacers added to squish a gallon of milk to paneer. So this alternative would only be good for 2 or probably 3+ gallon batches. I have both and will probably return the larger one but only as I rarely make ginormous batches. Bot are otherwise great quality, sturdy, build.
Outstanding for use as a tofu press. Heavy gauge metal. No plastic pieces or rubber bands to break. Comes apart in three pieces for easy washing. I can't believe I've been hand pressing tofu for 20 years without this!
I struggled with making a perfect block of Paneer and this is exactly what I needed. Before this I would keep some weight and try to make a useful shape of cheese but it was never perfect. But this makes it an easy job!If you like making paneer or other cheese at home then this is a no brainer pick!Build quality is really good as the stainless steel is pretty think sheet making it really sturdy! Vents for water seeping are sleek designed to ensure customizable amount of compression with the springs to your liking. It’s SS so hopefully I won’t have to worry about rust but I’ll know that in the long run but from the looks of it, it sure appears to be rust proof. For this price, it’s good! Includes everything you need so pretty good on price to get you going easy.
Very good quality stainless steel, solidly constructed. I bought it as a paneer press and it works fantastically well. The paneer came out looking like store bought paneer, except fresher of course. I would highly recommend it.
Heavy and lots of parts- and insects in packaging
This product is phenomenal. It could make tofu or cheeses in any thickness you like and the metal is industrial material not the flimsy one that you seen in the market . for the price of less than $40 is a steal. The dual spring construction keep your cheeses in an even thickness. It’s absolutely perfect. I just can’t say enough good things about this product. Bravo to SVYAXFA SUS 304
