The best poultry/kitchen shears
I've been through my fair share of kitchen shears over the years, including some from big names like Oxo and Henkels, but the TONMA Poultry Shears Heavy Duty have truly impressed me. From the moment I took them out of the box, I could feel the quality - these aren't your run-of-the-mill scissors.I originally bought these shears with the specific task of spatchcocking a turkey in mind, and they handled that job like a champ. The blades cut through the backbone with ease, making what can be a tricky task much more manageable. But what's really surprised me is how often I reach for these shears for other kitchen tasks. These TONMA shears have become my go-to tool for breaking down those rotisserie chickens from Costco. They make quick work of separating the bird into manageable pieces, cutting through joints and skin without any struggle. I've also found them incredibly useful when preparing fish. Trimming off tails and fins is a breeze, and the sharp blades don't mangle the delicate skin or flesh.Speaking of sharpness, I'm impressed by how well these shears have maintained their edge. I've been using them regularly for months now, and they're still as sharp as the day I got them. This is a refreshing change from other shears I've owned that seemed to dull after just a few uses. The comfort and design of these shears also stand out. The handles are well-shaped and provide a secure grip, even when your hands are a bit greasy from handling poultry. The spring-loaded action makes repeated cuts less fatiguing on your hand, which is a nice touch when you're processing a lot of food. It's rare to find a kitchen tool that combines quality, versatility, and durability so well. After going through several disappointing pairs of shears from other well-known brands, I can confidently say these TONMA shears are a cut above the rest. They've proven their worth many times over in my kitchen. If you're on the fence about which kitchen shears to buy, do yourself a favor and go for these TONMA Poultry Shears. They're a bit of an investment compared to cheaper options, but in my experience, they're worth every penny. These are the kind of tool that will likely last for years, making them a smart choice for any cook who values quality and performance in their kitchen equipment.

Best scissors/shears I’ve ever used
Japanese “made in Japan” heavy duty shears, made with Japanese SK5 steel. Although they say “stainless steel” in the description, SK5 steel is not remotely stainless. It contains only a few percent chromium at most; stainless steel needs 12-13% minimum to be considered stainless. That being said, the quality of these is outstanding. Smooth, precise action; feel great in the hand; excellent comfort. They come sharp and cut very cleanly. The steel is also much much harder then typical cheap carbon steel used in most mass market hand pruners. Rockwell hardness of 59 HRC is unheard of for hand tools; most tools are usually in the range of 50-54 or softer. As a result these stay sharp for a very long time but will take somewhat more time to resharpen. I’m so impressed with these that I purchased a spare set.

Replace all your kitchen scissors now.
One kitchen scissor to rule them all.Tough, sharp, and durable.Feels obviously heavy in your hand but not to the point where it’s tiring to work with. Feels solid while working with it.Easy to clean, easy to use, huge bang for your money, and it doesn’t hurt your hand even with lack of padding. Great scissors. I won’t buy any other scissors.

Great scissors!
These scissors are really nice. They feel good in your hands and do an excellent job cutting. I'd gotten used to the quallity of scissors and over the last 30-40 years things have really gone downhill. These remind me of what used to be expected quality of scissors.

Heft and size comparable to cutco; beautiful satin finish
I have large hands and with age my thumb knuckles have developed a minor deformity, so I was looking for utility scissors big enough for my thumb to slide through. I didn’t want to sacrifice my Cutco scissors for utility purposes in the garage, and these are very comparable at a much lower cost. I don’t think any general purpose shears will have better steel than Cutco, so I wouldn’t expect these Japanese scissors to exceed (or even match) the longevity of the Cutcos. (And with Cutco, I know where to mail them for sharpening). Even these scissors may seem exorbitantly expensive to some people, but I’ve bought at least dozens of general purpose scissors in my life and stopped buying any for the kitchen once we bought the Cutcos. I expect these will do equally well for their intended use. BTW, in my (admittedly limited) experience, good Japanese steel is as good as good German or good US steel. Cheap knockoffs sourced from other countries (im thinking of China and India) don’t hold up well. However, that may have to do with “cheap”, and not necessarily the country of manufacture.
