Perfect scissor built like a tank. Easy to clean and maintain. Do yourself a favor and buy them for your kitchen.
I bought a Tonma kitchen knife a while back after reading how this company was known for their scissors and garden shears. The knife has been great so when I saw these shears I wanted to try them out. First off, compared to the photos in the listing, the finish on the handles is not as nice looking as is depicted. The handles are painted with a metal flake silver paint. But, the feel of the handles are great. I have thick hands and the holes are big enough for me to use the shears comfortably. The grips that are cast into the handles are nice feeling and really help with control. Another thing I like about the handles is the stopper to keep the handles from closing tight together. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve pinched my hand in a tool that had handles that closed fully. The handles are bolted onto the blades and the screws are very tight. I was going to take them apart to show the attachment but they’ve used some good loctite to hold the screws in. That’s a good thing because they won’t be coming loose easily. After a week of use the blades are sharp and have zero signs of wear after cutting some corkboard, cardboard, plastic paneling, wood shims, and rubber hose. They even still slide though paper without working the handles. I am impressed with that. The blades seem to be a high carbon stainless steel with a brushed finish. Being stainless steel, they clean up easy even when adhesive was on the blades. The action of the shears is smooth and satisfying. Honestly, with the weight of the handles, the sound of the blades, and the smooth action, they have kind of become a fidget toy for me on my work desk. At a price of under $30 I think these shears fall into a place that is definitely better than plastic handle shears you buy at most local stores. The rugged design allows these to be used like more of a tool that you could use in the workshop, yard, or have in a tool bag, than just a kitchen shear. I think the price point is right where it needs to be. I’m a big fan of these shears even though they didn’t look as nice as the photos but they’re going to be living in my tool bag, not the kitchen, so that’s ok.
These kitchen scissors are simply outstanding. According to the listing, they’re made from high-strength Japanese SK850 stainless steel with an impressive 4 mm blade thickness. These feel completely overbuilt in the best possible way, which gives me real confidence in both their performance and long-term durability. The listing describes them as industrial-grade, heavy-duty kitchen shears, and based on my experience so far, that claim feels justified. Check! While I haven’t used them on lobster or king crab yet, I have used them extensively for butchering chicken and trimming beef, and they certainly handle those tasks well. I also recorded a quick video slicing hot dogs, not because that’s a demanding task, but because it clearly shows their size, leverage, and control in use (plus, that's what I was doing at the time). The handles are large and ribbed, offering excellent grip even when your hands are wet, which happens a lot in the kitchen. That added security matters when working with raw meat or applying significant cutting force. Despite their substantial feel, they’re easy to control and don’t feel awkward or unwieldy (at least to me).Cleaning is straightforward, and the manufacturer recommends hand washing rather than using a dishwasher, which is reasonable for a tool of this quality. I tend to hand wash my nicer kitchen knives, so I naturally would have done it by hand anyway. Plus, this will help preserve the steel and edge quality over time. These are, without question, some of the most powerful and well-made kitchen scissors I’ve used in a long while.I strongly recommend checking out the photos to get a sense of their true size, as that can be a little hard to gauge from the listing alone. At just under $30, the quality here is exceptional. If you regularly use kitchen shears, or want a pair that probably won’t need replacing, this pair just might be worth the investment.
Like most American consumers, over the past 20 years I've been somewhat brainwashed into thinking that things like scissors are all made the same, and my goal should be to buy the cheapest I can find. After going through multiple sets of cheap scissors and having them break, get dull quickly, or become stiff, I realize that you really do get what you pay for. This set of kitchen shears is made in Japan and is by far the best I've ever seen. Both of the handles are the same size, so you can use them either left-handed or right-handed. it comes with a protective sheath to protect the sharp tip during shipping, and it's securely wrapped in bubble wrap.Everything about this screams quality. The cutting action is extremely smooth and pleasant. And the blades are remarkably sharp and will handle cutting plastic packages open as well as cutting meat, chopping vegetables, and whatever else you throw at it in the kitchen.I literally have not used a pair of scissors like this in about 40 years, where the "scissors" action is smooth like butter and it makes a distinctive "clacking" sound. The cleaning instructions on the side of the box are pretty simple; just make sure to wipe off any moisture and to oil it from time to time to prevent rust.i'm at the point of my life where I realize that not everything is disposable, and the real value is in finding products that are crafted with exceptional quality and that will last you for many years. This product clearly falls into that category. Very highly recommended.
