Great scissors at a fair price

These scissors seem to cut thru everything I’ve thrown at them. They’re super sharp. They’re built like a tank, so they are a bit on the heavy side, but that weight is the weight of quality. They seem to hold and edge pretty well. Not sure on rust resistance I guess but I have not had issue with rust thus far - but I keep them dry. These are good scissors overall and they are a worthy addition to my kitchen.

Great Kitchen Scissors - JAPANESE QUALITY

Every time I have a chance to get real Japanese hand tools, for the yard, the shop, or the kitchen, I am pleased to take the opportunity. Again, I am not disappointed. In traditional Japanese style, the box is very modest, not glossy, not bragedocious. I wish I'd taken a picture of the box. Completely modest and humble. The tool is simply THE BEST quality. I do not begrudge the price, I'd pay twice this for a tool this good. The are the ultimate kitchen scissors. See the photos.SInce the blades do not come apart without disassembly, there is some extra cleaning around the pivot.They feel great in your hand - total quality/luxury.I expect my grandkids to use these - they will last.They provide good leverage - I cut raw chicken bones with them.The serrations seems to keep them sharp.I have fairly large man-hands, I wear XL gloves. I find them to be a comfortable size for me to use.Five Stars

Fast becoming my favorite kitchen scissors.

These Tonma Kitchen Scissors have a lot going for them. First of all, they are heavy-duty and feel it. They are solid metal. They feel good in your hands. They are sharp.I’ve used them for a number of things from opening packages to cutting up leafy greens. I’ve been really happy with the way they work.I haven’t tried them on meat at this point. So I’m not sure how well they will work.But for everything I’ve used them for, I’ve been happy.

Work great in the kitchen

The most important thing about these scissors is that they work great! They were very sharp right out of the box, and I had no trouble cutting through multiple items. I just hope they stay sharp for a long time, though eventually I may need to re-sharpen them. With enough time and use, everything needs sharpening. The micro-serrated blade design works particularly well on round items like carrots, which are usually tricky to cut with scissors. These Tonma scissors handle the job better than other kitchen scissors I’ve tried—though, of course, not quite as well as a sharp knife. Still, they perform better than expected since scissors tend to push round items away.The mirror-like finish is impressive and clearly shows the effort put into the design. They also look great. The two handles are nearly identical, making the scissors suitable for both left- and right-handed use. While using them, I did notice a couple of sore spots in my hand, but adjusting my grip quickly solved the issue.The usable blade length, with the scissors opened to 90 degrees, is about 3 1/8”. They’re made from solid steel and weigh 8.1 oz. Last night, I used them while making Bourbon Chicken to cube mostly thawed chicken thighs. They sliced right through both thawed and frozen chicken. I did have to be careful, as they also cut easily through cartilage, which I prefer not to include in cooked dishes. In fact, I found I preferred using these scissors for de-boning chicken over using a knife.Although these scissors are stainless steel and labeled dishwasher-safe, the manufacturer recommends handwashing. Personally, I consider them on par with a good kitchen knife, so I handwash and dry them after each use.

Japanese quality worth every penny

I've owned Henckels shears for years and have always thought they worked fine. But these Tonma scissors have completely replaced them. The sharpness is impressive as they easily cut through chicken, herbs, flower stems, and annoying packaging with minimal effort. The all-stainless construction feels substantial and well-made, exactly what you'd expect from Japanese craftsmanship. Because there are no plastic handles, they're completely dishwasher safe.I will say that they are heavy, which might bother some people during longer tasks (but I actually prefer the weight). The micro-serrations really grip slippery items better than my old shears. Worth the extra money if you want something that will literally last decades.
