Good solid blades, but poor handles

The blades are good. Very good.But the handles didn't work well for me.The edges, especially those you grip, are very square cut with minimal roundover, making them pretty uncomfortable to use for very long,Then there's the loop size. Typical scissors have handle loops that hold three fingers of medium or large hands, leaving the index finger outside the loop, between it and the pivot.These larger loops will hold all four fingers of medium size hands, but are uncomfortably tight for large hands. Which wouldn't be an issue, except the loops come up quite close to the pivot so there's no good place for the index finger.Finally, having the handle up close to the pivot means these have less mechanical advantage than other heavy duty scissors. That, combined with the uncomfortably square edges, makes them less suitable for heavy duty tasks. A shame, really, because the blades certainly appear capable of heavy cutting.

Very Good Kitchen Scissors, But I Expect More From "Made in Japan."

Firstly, the advertisement says also "Shears," but in no way, no how is it a shears. A shears has a completely different form, and is used to cut through the bones of; chicken, ducks, geese and turkeys. I am quite doubtful, that this, in the form of a scissors, would even be able to cut up a Cornish game hen, or a Grouse. Simply, it's a kitchen scissors. A very sturdy type of scissors, that has a more universal application, to cutting many things, used in a kitchen. So don't damage it, trying to butcher a bird. It's too good of a scissors for that kind of abuse.One very important feature, that any good scissors or shears must have; is the ability to easily take them apart, to sharpen them. While this one can be taken apart, you'll need tools to do so. That shouldn't be on a scissors of this quality. And so, this is my primary complaint. If I notice my scissors is getting a bit dull, I don't want to spend and hour or more, just to sharpen it a bit.Next critique that I have is its size. I have now; a total of five kitchen scissors, and one shears. This one is the smallest of all, measuring an inch less, in blade, than the next largest. Yes, smaller can sometimes be better. But my most commonly used kitchen scissors, is also my largest, coming in two inches longer, in blade, than this one.What I do like quite well is the bows/handles. In which; it has the largest bows of all my scissors, and only smaller than my shears. So in applied pressure, this scissor should excel amongst my scissors.Otherwise, in metals used, and in overall form, it is a very stable scissors, with zero flex noticeable.Conclusion: Like most all Japanese knife works, this scissors will last a lifetime of use. It's quality. Just not perfection.

Kitchen scissors that will last decades

I’m sure you’ve noticed the deterioration in manufacturing standards for, well, pretty much everything. These kitchen scissors hearken back to the old days, when goods were built to last. I’m told that scissors just like these were standard equipment for Japanese and Korean street food vendors 50 years ago. Take that as an interesting anecdote, but it doesn’t feel unlikely at all.They’re comparatively heavy and expensive, but they feel so much better to use than a generic pair, and they’re convincingly the better buy in the long term. I strongly recommend them if you don’t already have a great pair of kitchen scissors.
