Lovely, thoughtfully designed, but with some quality control issues
This salt cellar is truly an elegant kitchen accessory. I love the modern, streamlined design, and think it is the most attractive salt cellar design that I’ve seen. It is fairly heavy, which makes sense as that will prevent it from tipping over. The lid can be opened easily with one hand, and there are additional magnets on both sides to hold the lid open. The magnets seem like just the right strength so that you can close the lid again with a tap.Now for the negative - unfortunately, quality control seems to be an issue, based on the product I received. It has a large crack going down the side and halfway through the bottom, rendering it useless as a salt cellar. This is very unlikely to be damage from shipping, as I can’t physically press the sides back together; they are fixed in place. The exterior surface of the salt cellar also feels a teeny bit rough, as if it needed one more pass with a very fine grained sandpaper. I still would’ve given this five stars if it didn’t have the giant crack, as that texture issue should go away quickly with use or when it is washed for the first time. However, due to the other quality control issue, I figured it was worth mentioning.I would still recommend this product as this issue may have been a fluke, and I really do think it is a lovely piece of equipment. However, for this price point, this big of a defect should not have slipped through quality inspections.
