I was just what I expected. Size. weight. function. All good.
This spoon was more substantial in that it was thicker than I expected. It's not of one piece of bamboo but the layering is tight. Has a nicer medium deep bowl instead of the shallow ones you see.I bought my first bamboo spoon on a fluke as part of an inexpensive bamboo set and it opened my eyes to using bamboo.I realized it doesn't soak up odors and flavors, washes right off, needs almost no oiling, doesn't scratch enamel pots, is light(not to fool you) but extremely strong and durable and tolerates hot cooking well. This is my second spoon so I don't have to wash everything right away due to time. This one far superior to what you get in the cheap packs(although I have all of mine still!)It's the full 14 inches with no chintzing with a hole for hanging, a very nice handle,a medium deep bowl rare in bamboo spoons and great feel. It's my favorite spoon. Price is worth it.
This spoon stirs and grabs pasta making it easy to move thin spaghetti out of the pot to the plate.
●▬▬▬▬๑۩ I HIGHLY RECOMEND ۩๑▬▬▬▬▬●I recently started replacing the rubber utensils in the kitchen with bamboo. Since I make a lot of soups in the clay pot cook wear, I needed a good ladle. This one totally surprised me.●▬▬▬▬๑۩ QUALITY ۩๑▬▬▬▬▬●VERY! The wood has a great weight, and it is nice and deep. Very smooth, well sanded. It holds a 1/2 cup of liquid.●▬▬▬▬๑۩ USE ۩๑▬▬▬▬▬●I easily scoop soups and stews out with this, it has a nice little side pour spout! At the end of dinner, I give it a quick hand wash and dry and put it away. Its worth taking care of. I haven't put mine in the dishwasher, but it cleans up so quick and easy, that you wouldn't need to. I use it every single night at this point.●▬▬▬▬๑۩ NOTE ۩๑▬▬▬▬▬●I would gift this without hesitation, its a beautiful addition to any kitchen. I love mine!
Looks well made but it’s HUGE and a dark wood, not light wood as pictured. The photos in the listing are misleading. I’m showing it next to AirPods to give you an idea of the size. Returning.
I got all the utensils in this line (I think) for use in my enameled cookware, but when I had occasion to use this one, it was with one of my cast iron pans. These are hefty and sturdy, and I didn't think it would be able to get underneath the food. But it did, and beautifully so. I've cooked the same thing before and used my silicone flipper, and the thing fell apart or broke apart. If I'm not mistaken, the silicone spatula is thinner than this by far. I'm not sure what made it work so well, but it did! Maybe the rigidity, maybe the angle . . .In any case, I'm so glad I bought this and had it on hand!I didn't rate the durability, because I just got it, just used it for the first time, and haven't washed it yet. I'll update in six months or so if I remember to do so. But all in all, I'm glad to have invested in this! One word to the wise: If you're like me and can't always visualize the size of something by looking at the specs, these are BIG. Someone with small hands might find them a bit awkward to work with.
