No-mess ice cream removal, cute, no ice crystals...slightly confusing lids

Wonderful!Fits all the ice cream I make in the Cuisinart ICE-21, with room to spare. It's so very easy to scoop the ice cream out. Really nice design - eliminates that business of getting ice cream on your knuckles when trying to dig it out of the round, deep containers. Well done, there!!It's double-walled, so the ice cream is protected. Using this container, I've avoided ice crystals entirely. Nary a one. :) As is always recommended, I cover my ice cream on top with cellophane, so I don't know if crystals would form on top of ice cream put away by free-spirited, non-cellophaney people. The thin container is a lot easier to squeeze into small spaces in the freezer than a round, bucket kind.Lids need to be put on in the right direction. You can see how it is lipped in the pic. The lipped end of the lid needs to be placed on the lipped end of the container. At first, I'd forget that and be frustrated because I couldn't get the lid on, but once I remembered not to put the lid on upside down or with the lip on the wrong end (easier to mess up than you'd think!), it was fine. I like the lip design - easy off. :)They're so cute, too. Pretty, ice-creamy kind of colors, more pastel-looking under the frosted part and also has that cheerful, bright border color.Very, very happy with this. :D

Worth every penny!

This product is a game changer! Although we've enjoyed our ice cream maker for years, it had become somewhat of a special occasion novelty. The ice cream straight out of the machine was too soft to serve, but letting it sit in the freezer in a regular storage container produced a product that needed a chisel to remove. It became too fussy to try and determine the precise time when the ice cream out of the machine was at its best. I'd heard some discussions about this product among homemade ice cream afficionados, and decided to give it a try. It has ended up being worth every penny! The components fit together snugly, and the color is very attractive. Based on other reviewers recommendations, I did store the empty container in my freezer overnight before adding my homemade ice cream, and then I let the ice cream harden up in the freezer for 4 hours before serving. It was PERFECT! It was creamy and easy to scoop, yet held its form in the ice cream bowl. What is even better, however, is that the ice cream will remain PERFECT in this container for WEEKS, with no loss in quality, and no crystallization! I just finished some ice cream I made with our grandkids several weeks ago, and it was as good as the day we made it. Highly recommend this product!

Do not put in the dishwasher, you will be sorry

This will keep the ice cream frozen hard while out for serving. The lids will warp if put in the dishwasher but will work perfectly if not.

Best Thing Since Ice Cream

This is the best thing since ice cream. It does everything it says it will. It is insulated, with a layer of air keeping the ice cream from becoming overly-hard in the freezer. It makes scooping simple. It fits ever so nicely in my freezer. The lid is secure enough to keep the ice cream from tasting "like the freezer", but is configured to be easily removed without breaking a nail or getting frustrated. It is a beautiful design, and not just visually. But on that note, it comes it very pretty colors which are even better in real life. Get more than one, so you don't have to wait till it's empty to make more!

Well-Designed Ice Cream Tub Needs Slight Improvement

I like this ice cream tub enough that I owned all four colors at one point. Our household makes a lot of ice cream and sorbets, and we give them out in gift pint containers.— DESIGN —As an ice cream container, there is nothing that looks nicer on the market. You have four colors to help coordinate with your kitchen or to coordinate what kind of ice cream you're putting in. The long design is the obvious shape an ice cream container should be so that you can easily scoop from one end to the other for a nice round ball of ice cream. If you have multiple tubs you can store them side by side or on top of each other in the fridge. Each tub is made of three pieces:• White lid top• Colored container• Translucent outer containerThe good thing with this tub design is if one part breaks, and you happen to have more than one set, you can switch out the pieces. The tub holds up to 1.5 quarts of ice cream, which is the typical range an ice cream machine churns. The frosted outer container serves as an insulator. If you happen to leave your tub on the counter and closed, the ice cream wouldn't melt as fast. If you fill this up with ice cream and put it in the freezer, it would take a little longer to fully freeze, but once it's cold as it's supposed to be, it will stay that way longer. The bottom of the transparent tub has rubber outlining the edges so that it helps prevent any slips when scooping ice cream.— THE LID —Some people have complained about the white lid top not being tight. It's not supposed to be tight, it's supposed to be easy to take off. If this lid was tight and you have a tub full of ice cream, it could freeze shut and you will have a hell of a time opening it. I've bought the Zak! Designs Insulated Ice Cream Container, and that is incredibly difficult (and near impossible) to open at times. So to reiterate, the lid on this is meant to be loose-ish.— QUALITY —I mentioned breaking earlier because one of mine did crack, hence the one-star deduction. What I think happened was either the ice cream expanded and cracked the bottom of the colored piece, or I may have dropped it on the counter with ice cream inside. In any case, the crack on the inner colored piece doesn't actually affect its functionality. It's cracked, but it still holds ice cream in without leaking, so I continue to use it.— DESIGN CRITIQUE —As an Industrial Designer, my main suggestion is that the colored container needs to be slightly thicker all around, or have a modified plastic material that doesn't crack so easily. There is a lot of space between the colored tub and outer tub, so an increase in the thickness of the colored tub would serve to prevent cracks, and still fit within the current transparent tub design.— SUMMARY —If you make ice cream consistently, this tub is a good choice to have (despite the potential cracking). Recommended.
