These are awesome for drying sliced fruit and our trees were loaded this year, so we dried a lot. They keep the fruit off the tray and it dries faster. They are easy to clear and we are glad we ordered them.
The actual trays work well, but I find that the dimensions are not good. They are supposed to be versatile and fit other Harvest Right sizes. Unfortunately, this leaves a bunch of gaps on the edges and in between the tray grids where food falls down onto the metal tray. You can't get as much on the tray. It would be far better that they make a tailor fit size for each Harvest Right tray size. I'm using a Medium Harvest Right.
Work great. Easy to trim to fit small trays.
Just need 2 for medium trays, and 3 for large trays. Fantastic for doubling your space for trays in the freeze dryer!
The plastic inserts for freeze drying are very handy. Fit perfectly in the med. size trays. Easy to clean and will help food dry faster! Thank you!!
Regardless of what they say and show, these inserts do not fit the medium trays well. I have a medium that should use two but there are gaps of about half an inch down the long side and almost two inches across the middle. So if you try to center the inserts, there are gaps all around. It may not sound like a lot of space but with small pieces it is,they slip around,fall off the sides, it's just a mess. I've cut strips of the raised cone silicone baking sheets to go down the side and across the middle which keeps the inserts in place and makes them usable, so I will give it a 2, but how hard would it have been' to just make them to fit in the first place. My only guess would be they only wanted to make one size and 3 of these fit well on the large trays but we're undersized for the medium trays and they just went with that. It's a great idea and the concept works very well, it does shorten drying time considerably. But having to hassle with the filler strips to keep the inserts in place and washing and drying etc, is just really annoying, equally as much as using without and having the trays slip all over and food sliding under them. I should have returned them on principle, but I needed them at the time and decided to make a creative response to make them usable. So far I haven't found any one else making these or I would have returned them. So order them if you need them, but be prepare to adapt them or be annoyed if you use the mediums.
We use these with our small Harvest Right freeze dryer. We had to cut the grids to make them fit, but once adjusted, they work really well! They keep the fruit off the tray and help the drying process go faster. Good quality and very useful overall.
