I bought this for my wife, who loves birds, and she’s crazy about it. It’s something out of the ordinary, approaching the realm of true art. A real plus is the top, which isn’t plastic, but ceramic, with a silicone seal. Well-made cup, but the real draw is the artwork. That’s a lot of what you’re paying for here.
This mug has an absolutely beautiful design in vibrant colors. Any Goldfinch lover would be thrilled to receive this as a gift. The seal however does tend to leak slightly and it is too tall for use in a microwave which, I found disappointing. It does however keep drinks hot for about 45 minutes with the drinking lid attached.
I love this beautiful ceramic mug. I got the one with the american goldfinch on it. It is microwave and dishwasher safe. I got it because it holds a generous 17 oz and has a lid! I wanted the lid because if I leave my coffee unattended, my dog will help herself as she loves coffee. With the lid, my coffee is protected from spillage and unwanted dog saliva! Yay. It will also help keep your beverage warm for a bit longer. The ceramic is breakable, so I don’t travel with it. There is a goldfinch on both sides of the mug with a pretty, floral background. It came in a very pretty box that I have displayed on one of my buffet cabinets. The mug would make a fabulous gift for the bird lover (birder) in your life. I wish I had several more of these. I highly recommend.

This is a beautiful mug. The only downside is that the lid is not tight enough to prevent drips or leaks. I just stopped using it with the lid altogether.
