Versatile digital scale with APP for diet monitoring
The Ultrean digital food scale is quite versatile for not only weighing any items up to about 33 lbs. but also for monitoring your daily intake of calories and nutrients. The scale comes well packaged in a cardboard box (see image). The key specifications of the scale are nicely printed on the back of the box, so no need for fumbling around in a small print manual (see image). The box contains the scale protected by a plastic bag, an additional manual, quick start guide and instructions to download the NutriScale APP (see images). On the back side of the scale is a plastic cover that when opened provides access to the battery compartment (see image). The scale requires 3 AAA batteries that are included with the product. Note that the batteries are inside the compartment during shipment, but they are individually covered by a plastic film to prevent discharge. The 4 anti-slip pads on the back are very robust and provide a nice "cushioned" support for the scale. The NutriScale APP needs to be downloaded, installed and setup to work with the physical scale. The APP uses Bluetooth to connect with the scale. I had some issues pairing the APP to the scale, since the APP failed a couple of times with error messages that were not applicable to my case (e.g. check that Bluetooth is ON, bring phone close to scale, switch scale ON, etc.). However, after a few tries of doing the same thing I got the APP to connect to the scale. Once connected the scale transmits the weight of the item to the APP. The user can lookup or create a library of food items (e.g. fruit, vegetables, oatmeal, bread, etc.), where the amount of calories for a specified amount of the food item (e.g. in ounces or grams) is stored. Then before a mealtime individual food items can be weighed and input into the APP, so that the total amount of calorie intake is estimated by the APP. The APP can then monitor the daily calorie intake and provide charts of calories vs. time. Similarly other nutrients like vitamins, fat etc. can also be shown in the APP ( up to about 20).Overall I found the physical scale to be very responsive and functional. Also its maximum capacity of 33 lbs. is quite impressive for its size. The APP is quite convenient for health monitoring in general. There are options to sign up for advanced features with a weekly, monthly, or yearly payment fees. It seems that the payment plans provide a more advanced food itemization and detailed data analysis. The basic free setup seems quite versatile for most cases and is a step up from a rough estimate using the food product labels. I did have some issues navigating through the APP and setting up the food items. If a mistake is made in entering a food item, then it seems the user would have to reset the APP and start all over again. I'm not sure whether there is a better way around this, but it might be fine after some amount of time using it.Besides a very useful NutriScale APP I would highly recommend the Ultrean digital scale itself for the kitchen and give it a 5 star rating.

Great little scale!
This is a great scale. It is super thin (1/2 inch tall) and can be stored just about anywhere you need it. It takes 3 AAA batteries that came with it. You can choose the unit to weigh in--it measures in grams, ounces, pounds, and milliliters. The information is shown as an LED which is easy to read. It also holds up to 33 pounds! It's very sleek and easy to clean, with a stainless steel top surface and no crevices for food or liquids to collect in. It has 4 rubber/anti-slip feet on the bottom to hold it securly to the counter. It also has a bluetooth function. It took me a couple times to pair it. It's pretty cool--I can put a food item on the scale, take a picture of it or search for it in the app. The scale will weigh the item and the app will tell me all the nutritional information about it. Nutrition Facts include: Calories, Fat Calories, Total Fat (Saturated Fat, Trans Fat, Unsaturated Fat), Cholesterol, Sodium, Carbs (Fiber, Sugar), Protien, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Calcium, Iron, Potassium, Phosphorus, Purines, Alcohol and Fructose. You can use the app to track all sorts of other information including your excersie and water intake and you can purchase an AI Health Coach plan. Not really applicable to the scale though. I am super impressed with this scale.

Works as advertised.
I did download the app, and it worked, but honestly, I have zero use for it. I don't care how many calories are in my bread, and I'd probably rely on the recipe for that anyway. It is a good-quality scale so far. It doesn't blink out or do anything weird, the conversions are accurate, and when I stacked twenty quarters to test the calibration, it was off by .01 lb, which I think is good enough. The price is probably acceptable if you actually want the app for anything.

Durable and easy to use!
It's crazy how small but power these things have become. It's durable, great quality, and functions so well! It's so small and thin that I'm able to store it in a drawer! It's crazy. So easy to use and clean. I totally recommend!

Display can be hard to read
I’m not so sure about this scale’s accuracy. A nickel is usually my standard as it weighs 5g. On this scale, it came in at 6g. I tried multiple different nickels and they all weighed 6g on this scale. I tried weighing a few different items to see how they compared. My stand mixer bowl is normally 790g but this scale weighed in a little less at 787g. My mason jar for my sourdough starter is normally 283g and this scale weighed it a little more at 285g. Will a couple grams ruin my recipes? Probably not, but accuracy is appreciated. The front panel seems to scratch very easily. My scale already got a big scratch right out of the box. I also feel like the display can be hard to read at certain angles as the background isn’t completely blacked out. The auto shutoff is after 2 minutes of inactivity (since I could not find this detail in the online product description). I got this scale because I wanted to replace my old one that times out after 1 minute. But I'm not sure if this is a better product due to the questionable accuracy and difficult-to-read display.
