Works as descirbed, mostly...
First does this really work? Yes when done properly, 90% of the ice will come out perfectly clear.There were no instructions included, only what is found on the listing. I tried 3 different methods and here are the results.Some notes: The instructions do not say how full to fill the base nor is there any fill line.... Also do not force the removal of the ice mold. When the mold is ready to be remove from the base, i.e. enough "defrost time," the mold will easily pull away from the base.1) Did as instructed. Fill the base (full to near the top) and then slowly place the ice mold into the base. Water overflowed and spilled everywhere. Covered and froze for 2 days. Removed and let the cubed defrost for about 4-8 minutes or so before I was able to gently pull the mold from the base.Result......It worked with about 1/3 of cubes with haze and the rest was perfectly clear and it made a big mess when setting up.2) Did as instructed, but this time I filled the base a little over about 2/3 full and then slowly placed the cube mold into the base, placed the cover over the mold and froze for about 2-3 days. Removed and let the cube defrost for about 8-10 minutes before I was able to easily remove the mold.Result.... It worked much better than the first, nearly all the cubes were clear, but the cubes were not full cubes as the water didn't reach the top of the mold. so shorter cubes than what could be.3) This time I put everything together, the base, the mold holder and the mold, all of it. Then I slowly poured water into on of the cube molds and let the water and gravity fill the rest. I was able to fill the mold to near its max, placed the mold into the freezer flat as possible, topped off the molds, and covered. Froze the mold for 3 days and removed. Defrosted for about 10 minutes before I was able to easily remove the ice mold.Results.... Similar to test #2 but easier to set up and I was able to fill to full capacity of the mold as practical and nearly all the cubes were clear.When I place the ice cubes into a glass of water or flavored and colored drink, the cubes virtually disappeared. Looks really cool and almost like the cubes are fake sitting in my cup.The quality of the foam and mold are good quality. Should last many years when treated properly.Overall

The “Easy to Use” instructions do not match the illustration
I ordered the Bongpuda clear ice cube maker as soon as I saw it advertised. I have wanted a way to freeze large ice cube so they are clear to chill whiskey without excessive dilution. The Bongpuda clear ice cube maker arrived quickly and well packaged. I wish the ice cubes are larger, on the order of two inches square.The website states: “Pour water into the silicone reservoir of the clear ice cube maker molds and fill to the top (reservoir rests on a foam insulated box), then put into the plastic reservoir, and finally put into the 16-cavity silicone square molds slowly and place on the flat surface of the freezer for 48-72 hours.” The illustration labels do not match what these instructions state. The illustration does not identifying any part as a “reservoir.” In fact, the above instructions states there is a silicone reservoir and a plastic reservoir and the diagram shows a water storage container, a plastic tray and then the ice cube tray – no reservoir label. I wish companies would write instructions that match the illustrations!The plastic tray has holes in it that allows the ice cubes to freeze “from the top down, squeezing the air bubbles into the storage compartment below while leaving clear ice cubes on top,” which makes sense. Unfortunately, my first attempt was not that successful in obtaining full square ice cubes since I did not fill the water to the top of the ice cube tray.Additionally, the instructions indicate that the ice cubes are easy to release from the silicon ice cube tray. This is not completely true it takes some time for the silicone ice cube tray to release from the plastic tray. Once I got the silicone ice cube tray released, there was a sizeable block of ice wrapped around it that prevented an easy release from the plastic tray, see pictures. The pictures show that I was successful in obtaining clear ice cubes; however, they were not full size. I placed an ice cube on an upside down whiskey glass with the words “Clear Ice Cube Maker Mold” behind it. One picture shows the words “Ice Cube” clearly through the ice cube. Consequently, I feel this product could be five stars if the instructions matched the illustration. In addition, I am going to try assembling the container and trays first, and then fill with water up to the top of the ice cube tray to see how that works.
