Excellent for herb maceration

Purchased this almost a year ago to make a large batch of dit da jow, and I have to say I’m super pleased with the quality of the glass and metal fittings. Very thick glass, seals well, and helps make handling it easier. The size is great, leaves plenty of space at the top for shaking up the mixture.I won’t remove a star for this, but keep in mind that silicone seals aren’t meant for every sort of solution. Silicone is cheap and works well for water, but if you’re using alcohol as a solvent and have aromatic herbs, expect silicone to absorb a fair amount of the scent (which means you don’t have a perfect vapor proof seal in these cases). In those cases, I opted for a sheet of natural rubber and just used the seal this came with as a guide to cut my own seals.

We bought this to store my dog’s kibble (food), and it is perfect for that use! Super easy to open and close, no assembly required. Lots of storage space, this jar fits an entire 5lb bag of kibble with room to spare. Almost an entire 10lb bag, and about half of the 20lb bag. The seal is great, creates an air tight seal. It’s not too heavy without food in it, plus it has the handle to help carry it, if you’re moving it!

Insects and mice proof

Awesome jars. Plastic socks. Glass will last hundreds of years. Plastic of picks up odd smells, where glass does not. Insects and mice cannot eat through glass. Plastic does not prevent this issue. I live off grid in the Alaska forest, and insects can be an issue with Plastic. As well as mice in winter months. Shrews seek a warm environment in winter. As of course food...They cannot eat through glass. The glass jars are huge and seal tightly. I will be purchasing several more.
