Excellent quality, well made and highly secure knife storage box. Nice enough to keep on display.
Looks very nice and easy to use. I just wish there were instructions for how to use the positioning blocks inside the case.
This box came locked, the lock is installed upside down. There’s no instructions that I can access on how to unlock the box so I am returning it.
The construction is fairly cheap and the lock was installed upside down. It can be broken into by dropping or hitting strongly.
Nothing quite says “I’ll keep your knives safe” like a lock that won’t open without you unscrewing the whole thing after putting your knives in it! Needless to say, I didn’t have a great first experience with this.I got a replacement, and so far it does open… but if it wouldn’t completely ruin it visually, I’d find some way to remove the part that seemed to malfunction on the first, the little numeric combination lock. Despite following the instructions (and not changing the code from 000), it worked a few times then just stopped opening. I wonder how long this replacement (which had some scuffing and a bit of chipped wood/bamboo plywood) will open before I have to unscrew it, too…Onto the actual storage… you basically have to, even with skinny handles, go back and forth. The slots are far too close together to put knives side by side facing the same direction. At least they seemed to know that. Another detail=I had to turn one of the slotted pieces on its side as otherwise the blades for the larger knives I put in it didn’t actually go into the openings but sat above them. Needless to say, it isn’t one size fits all… you’ll have to fiddle around to figure out a way that you can actually fit your knives in; in my case, all the bigger (taller ie chef’s, santoku) ones are on one side and the smaller ones are on the other.I also recommend you take a few pictures for your own sake before using the adhesive strips as they are the most solid part about this and the pieces won’t be budging easily once down. One last critique… the little blocks have gaps on both sides. It’d be fine if they were really small gaps, but they seem like they were cut for a different box because they don’t come close enough to the edges (and in turn are easy to line up poorly/crooked). It isn’t the end of the world, just a quality issue.I am nervous about this second unit also breaking even though I am not changing the code so it shouldn’t pose a problem (but it did before, so…). I can’t in good faith recommend this. You’re infinitely better off with something that has a key and, as if this isn’t obvious, if you actually have kids who you worry will get into the knives, ummm, having it so easy to unscrew from the outside seems only useful in my situation where the lock broke so I had to free my knives from imprisonment… something with a lock and key that you just tuck somewhere the kids won’t see is a better idea than a reallllllly cheap quality combination lock!
Keeping sharp tools safe while maintaining an organized kitchen is important, and this knife lock box provides a great solution. The combination lock ensures knives stay secure, offering peace of mind when storing them around children. The durable bamboo construction looks elegant while standing up well to everyday use, resisting moisture and maintaining its polished appearance. I DO give it the occasional onceover with the Tung Oil I use for Teak boat decks to keep it smooth, shiny, and protected. I appreciate how smoothly the upgraded hinges and combo lock function, making access simple when access is needed. With its spacious interior and MOVABLE knife sizing blocks, this lock box accommodates many different knife sizes, allowing me to keep everything sorted without clutter. I found that mixing smaller paring knives with larger sizes limits the internal layout of the box. Even removing one of the floating knife blocks did not restore the internal harmony using mixed sizes of cutlery. My solution was to use this box for my set of classic Japanese knives. They are all roughly the same size, and only the larger cleaver needed to be left out. They have been in their original Japanese silk and leather roll for decades and this box will make them easier to use on a regular basis. A serious win for my cooking prep work.Whether placed in a cabinet, drawer or on your countertop, this attractive bamboo knife chest blends well into any kitchen decor while adding a layer of safety security for your knives and tour children. The thoughtful linear design makes it a practical and dependable solution, combining safety, convenience, and a refined aesthetic for your kitchen. Thanks AMAZON!Mark in North Carolina
