The product’s Amazon page provides an applicability chart by the mixer model number for absolute certainty as to product applicability.This product has a machined aluminum hub assembly with a nylon gear installed to the hub. The product’s Amazon page does not address how the gear was placed upon the hub, whether it was injection molded onto the hub or if it was molded separately and simply installed onto the hub. The information also does not provide any information as to how the nylon gear may be permanently affixed to the hub to ensure that the hub does not turn within the gear itself.The product’s Amazon page indicates that the gear is made of “PA Plastic.” The term “PA Plastic” stands for Polyamide plastic which is another term for the plastic commercially known as “Nylon.” However, there are a number of different types of this plastic all having slightly different properties. The product’s Amazon page does not specify the specific type of nylon polymer used to produce the gear. In general, nylon plastics are a group of versatile, semi-crystalline thermoplastics known for their strength, wear resistance, and chemical resistance.The gears appear to be well formed with the proper gear teeth profile for engagement with the motor shaft. The nylon gear appears to be appropriately hard and could not be rotated about the gear hub. I ordered this product because I am about to embark upon a maintenance visit to the inside of my KitchenAid bowl-lift stand mixer. The primary purpose of the journey is to remove the old grease from the gear section and to re-grease the gears with new silicone-based grease that will not drip out of the planetary mechanism. This mixer was purchased for my mother about 35 years ago and has been used to make many cakes, loaves of bread, and has ground much meat into hamburger and sausage. Consequently, I am concerned that the worm gear may have substantial wear and be in need of replacement. The worm gear is the first part to wear out on older KitchenAid mixers. I am hoping not to have to replace the worm gear but it is better to be prepared, if needed. This product appears to be made of appropriate quality materials for the task. I am happy with this product.

Does not fit need adjustment
Did not fit my kitchenaid mixer , it’s much smaller need to drill to make it fit also the metal ring is thicker which also will not fit , I had to shave it with sand paper to make it fit so if you can’t tailor it don’t buy it

Misfit In Size
In terms of size of the rings, one seems smaller than the other because it kept slipping like other users have mentioned. Not sure what the issue is but it seems that the main issue is quality.Ease of installation was smooth and like any other worm gear I have installed in the past. The worm gear is value for money and very functional if it works, which is literally a hit or miss because of the way the diameters are so different.Overall, I do not recommend this set because it is not a well machined set right out of the factory.
