Makes sourdough baking so much better!

I’ve been making sourdough at home for a while now, and this has made a noticeable difference in how clean and controlled my scores are. The first time I used it was on a weekend bake when I really wanted the loaf to open up nicely in the oven, and the blade sliced through the dough effortlessly without dragging or tearing the surface.The folding design is something I didn’t realize I’d appreciate as much as I do. After scoring, I just loosen the thumb screw, tuck the blade back into the wooden handle, and tighten it down. It feels safe to store and easy to slip into a drawer without worrying about cutting myself.The handle itself feels solid and well made. The wood is smooth, comfortable in the hand, and paired with the brass hardware it feels like a tool that’s going to last a long time, not something disposable. The extra blades are a nice bonus too, so I don’t have to think about replacements anytime soon.If you bake bread regularly, especially sourdough, this is one of those tools that actually improves the process and the final result. It’s simple, sharp, and does exactly what it’s supposed to do.

The last lame you will try.

I know a lame is a very personal choice for sourdough bakers. What works for one may not for another. That said, this is by far the best lame I have ever used. The handle is large and inspires confidence while scoring because of enhanced control. Deployment and retraction of the blade, once mastered, is safer and easier than others. Blade changes are intuitive. 10 spare blades means you can take your time ordering a supply. Storage is safe and easy with no risk of an accidental cut. The laser cut tree decoration is a nice touch. All in all a well thought out and attractive tool.

Love it, but with one caveat

We really love this item now that I have spent some time with a sanding block to loosen the fit between the main handle and the small wooden piece holding the blade down. As purchased, it was too tight and that made it difficult to open or retract the blade. But after sanding (and oiling the beautiful wood with cutting board oil) it is not only highly functional but SO much more beautiful than the plastic/metal competitor models. Really like it now!! But if you buy this beautiful unit, you too may have to do a bit of sanding to get it to work easily.

Best lame I have used!

I have several different bread lames and this one is by far the best for sourdough. It cuts at an angle that is different than the other styles that I’ve purchased and makes it easier to do decorative scoring. Super easy to use and also a beautiful design.
