Best board for the money
Got this for a Christmas present for the wife. She absolutely loves it. Said very high quality for the money and the weight helps keep it from moving around. Prior to use, we used John Boos mystery oil and board cream. Love the side handles for easy movement around kitchen without worry about spilling or dropping.

Beautiful, but it will require a time investment.
Usually board this size and this thickness would retail for well over $150, the reason these are so affordable is because they are raw wood.Wood is antimicrobial and antifungal, to a certain degree, naturally. This makes raw wood cutting boards excellent for fruits and vegetables, but if you are cutting anything that is juicy like a steak or a turkey, it will easily sink into the wood as it is porous and the dryness will create capillary tubing.Boards of this size are made for things like holiday turkeys because not only are they useful as a serving platter but they are beautiful. If you are considering this board, please take into account the time that will be needed to properly treat it so that it will survive for many years. As soon as I put my cutting board oil on it immediately began to absorb, which told me that the wood was very well dried out, but it also means there's going to be about a week before I can use this. Boards that are not properly oiled in wax can tend to crack and chip, especially in drier climates like where I live. While doing my oiling, I did notice several cracks and chips around the edges, which is common for dry boards as they are being stored and shipped. The board is actually thick and dense enough that I think sanding these out would be perfectly reasonable, and it wouldn't take away from the overall appearance.Another critique I do have of it is that if you have a weak grip strength or arthritis, this board will probably be too heavy and the hand holds are nice but not very deep.I can absolutely recommend this board, especially for such a reasonable price point. It is well made and is absolutely beautiful, even moreso after a good oiling. But you need to keep in mind if you have the week to properly oil and wax seal your board, or if you want something that is ready to use upon arrival.

Don’t forget to oil your board!
This is a fantastic work of art. It’s perfectly crafted by skilled hands, and looks beautiful once oiled. It will quickly become the centerpiece of any kitchen it’s placed in. It’s large, but it fit on my parents countertop with ease. The only criticism I have is that it doesn’t come with care instructions. I gave this to my mom, who has always used glass cutting boards and never would’ve tried wood had it not been gifted to her. She absolutely loves it, but she doesn’t know how to properly take care of it. I’ve told her, but having it on paper, on a card for easy reference, would’ve made a huge difference. To those who don’t know, there are plenty of resources online instructing you how to season your new cutting board, but the most basic thing you’ll need right away is mineral oil (or coconut oil - but there’s some debate around that). Get a lot. You’re gonna need to slather it on both sides until it pools in places. This could take a few days of repeated applications, but the better job you do on this step, the longer life your new cutting board will have. The oil fills the pores of the wood, preventing other, unsavory fluids from getting in and decaying the wood from the inside out. This also keeps water from getting in and drying out the wood, which can do more damage than anything else.If you properly oil your cutting board it can last years - decades, even. Properly oiling it is the first step towards creating a generational cutting board, the kind that gets passed down from parent (or grandparent) to child. And if that’s what you’re hoping for, then this is a great option. It’s well worth the price, and as long as you take care of it then you’ll be very, very satisfied. Overall, I highly recommend it.

Spacious work surface, quality is lackluster
This acacia cutting board is quite hefty. I really appreciate the larger working surface because I can easily process a full rack of pork spareribs without any overhang. I plan to use the reverse side as a kneading surface. The unseasoned board surface looks okay at first glance. Upon closer inspection, the frequency of cosmetic defects is too hard to ignore. The glue joints have been performed well, except for one noticeable gap on the top side. Deeper voids were filled in with glue and sawdust. There's a lot of filler, but instances of minor pitting and splits in the grain had gone overlooked. The router bit was run too quickly when it came time to address the handle recesses; they are very rough to the touch. Fortunately the defects can all be repaired before initial use. I plan on re-sanding the surface and filling all the voids with clear epoxy.A top quality end grain board can easily fetch more than triple the price of this particular board. For $64 at the time of this review, the price is fair for acacia wood and the quality of workmanship. Just know that a good amount of work needs to be performed to minimize cross contamination risk and to maximize longevity.UPDATE: After casual usage for weekly meal prep and immediate washing afterward, some edge sections are becoming noticeably unglued less than 3 months into ownership. Because oil and wax have already been applied, a long lasting repair is unlikely I'm downgrading my rating from 4 to 2 stars because this board has quickly become more trouble than it is worth.
