This needs a separate rating for ‘overall appeal’ as it would only get 4 stars.But I gave 5 stars rating this on its own merit without an ‘overall’ rating.Let me explain.There is no time, let me summarize:Joking! I’ll elaborate.The butter dish is beautiful and well made. The glaze is even and the color pops.The wooden lid has a nice design and a double seal to keep butter fresh while stored on the countertop.The included spreader has a sturdy grip and the blade isn’t wobbly.It is oven, microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator safe. No lead in the dyes or glaze.It is a great value at $25.Some of you may think $25 for a butter dish?!?! But I can tell you that until you keep real butter on the countertop you do not know what you are missing. Real butter kept at room temp is creamier, has better flavor and of course, melts faster and spreads better.Even if all you do is put your margarine in this, you will notice a pleasant difference in texture and flavor.So why would I overall take a star off this dish?Because the company does not make any pieces that match the amber elegance pattern. That means that while beautiful, I can’t get any serving dishes or bakeware to match. I have plates that would complement it, but to present a polished look when hosting a dinner, I would want serving pieces and bakeware to match, not simply coordinate.This means this beautiful butter dish may never be enjoyed by many, just by my hubs and myself at our tiny kitchen table.

The promotional page for the Vancasso butter dish has a wealth of information on it that agrees with material printed that comes with the porcelain ceramic dish. It is refrigerator, microwave, and oven safe and is made with food grade materials. It adds a lot of color to the table, protects your butter, and has a built in spreader that matches the colors on the ceramic dish's sides. The bamboo lid is air tight to protect your butter and has a cutout in the bamboo wood to hold the butter spreader. I use this with two different types of butter when I have guests for dinner. It holds the 1/2 pound bars of solid Irish butter as well as a container of spreadable Irish butter as you can see from my include photo. I had guest over for dinner the previous night and they commented on the pretty butter dish. I can take it right from the refrigerator and put it on the dinner table. When done, I just clean off the spreader and put everything back into the refrigerator.
