Dress up for food presentation, for picky eaters or for fancier party displays
I love the shapes and ways this set lets me dress up something like a simple dish of mixed rice, which my family isn’t always a fan of, but is more nutritious than the white rice my dear departed mother-in-law used to serve. Two hits that will help you with these, is that if you’re cutting something like carrots (a great choice for their vibrant color) is to slice them thin and after every 3 or 4 cuts, to push the pieces out with the wide end of a chopstick and microwave them for just a minute. Also, it’s easier to buy carrots that have a large enough diameter if you go to a health food store where they’re sold for juicing or an Asian import grocery store, which is where I usually go for them. They washed easily on the special top rack of my new dishwasher, but if I was using my old dishwasher, I’d use a closeable dishwasher basket that is designed to hold small things that get thrown around a dishwasher otherwise.I look forward to dressing up the things I make for church potlucks and making nice cutouts on the top of two-crust pies and finding other fun ways of using this great cutting set. It’s a great value if you like your food to look as good as it tastes. (It tastes better if it looks better.)I keep the “scraps” from the veggies I cut out for soups. Nothing goes to waste.
