Who knew that the shape of a peeler could make such a difference. It feels good in my hand, so I will use it more. The flip side cuts perfect shreds with the same handle shape. You NEED one of these.
I bought this because I wanted a peeler that was all stainless steel and could go in the dishwasher. I figured the julienne blades were just an extra bonus - actually they're the problem. When you use the peeler end, the peels get stuck in the julienne blades, which hold onto them tightly and clog the thing. You then have to painstakingly pull the peels out of the julienne blades which is a frustrating endeavor. The net result is that it takes you 3-4 times as long as it should to peel anything! So while it's great that it can go in the dishwasher, it actually takes less time to wash the old one by hand than it does to try to pull out all the stuff that gets stuck in the julienne blades! This might be an adequate peeler if you just intend to use in now and then, but for daily use it's basically an exercise in frustration!
Sturdy and easy to use.
I really wanted a metal peeler and a wider one too. This is a little lighter than I was expecting but it works for me.
I mean, it's not reinventing anything, but for what it is, it's great. Feels good in my hand, peels nicely and doesn't take off more than a nice thin layer of skin so the fruit is left for eating. I haven't tried the shredding side of the utensil, not sure I ever will, but it's nice to know it's there if I ever need it. Overall, really happy with this, and can highly recommend!
I'm not usually a fan of combination tools, finding that they usually compromise functionality. This one doesn't, both the peeler and julienner work well. Its more comfortable to hold than it looks. I use this often, I almost always julienne carrots for salads, as well a summer squash when it's in season. Its a great way to add vegetables to our diet and is easy. The tool is all stainless steel although the blades are magnetic so could rust if left wet. I put it in the dishwasher but make sure to dry it before putting it away. The construction is open so there aren't places that hold moisture, a good shake is all that's needed.Great combination tool that's well priced and functional.
I got this for the julienne feature and it’s not great.
