They don’t rust like empty cans do.
For a long time I used empty cans to mold the rice and couscous. They worked just fine but they were not always easy to use. I cut myself several times with the sharp edges and sometimes the food didn’t sliced out evenly or they get rusty with time and are not safe to use after a while. These mold set solves those problems. They are made of stainless steel and the pushing system allows you to adjust the amount of compression very evenly so you can decide how thick or loose you want your rice or other grains.

Works for Onigiri as well as Pastry
Personally, I like these better for making fancy pastry than for onigiri. They come in three sizes, and the rings are very sturdy. They are perfect for cutting cake, brownie or cookie circles and then will hold everything together while stacking for presentation. As for onigiri, while they certainly can be used for making rice balls, they would be an unusual style. Onigiri are usually hand held and stuffed with some sort of filling. You could use these for round onigiri, but they would almost have to be served on a plate, and the largest ring mold would be the most practical.Either way, this is a great set of ring molds. The rings are very sturdy and the plungers are strong and well made. It is a quality set, no question.

I like them.
These molds are going to up our homemade sushi game. We have made rolls and Nigiri, this will give us another option. The quality feels good and should last a good long time. We have found this is a good family activity that we all enjoy.
