High-Quality Wok Cooking

I bought the WANGYUANJI round-bottom 11.8-inch cast-iron wok, with dual integral loop handles. It is beautiful, and I really enjoy using it. I use it on an old-style GE gas stove, along with a cast-iron wok ring. Also, I use an 11-inch stainless-steel lid, instead of the original wooden lid. I cook most of my meals in this wok, without sticking. The thin metal allows me to make quick temperature changes, when needed. As listed, the weight is 1.6 kg or 3.5 pounds.

Great price and value for making a great meal at home in small or large quantities

Love this well made wok and the beautiful wood lid. It has helped me level up my cooking. Safe to use on an electric stove (that's what I have). Because of it's size you can make a little or a lot in it. I have not experienced any breakdown of the material nor any scratches. I do recommend wiping it out with a damp cloth right after using to prevent any breakdown and only use a soft microfiber cloth or sponge to clean it. Great value for your money.

Works great on GE induction, good value overall, stupid handles

I got the large wok with the two side handles. It is about 14.2 inches, as described.I bought this to use on my GE induction cooktop to replace an older flat-bottom wok that wasn't actually flat. This one isn't perfectly flat but it's very close, and some of my other pans that work well on induction are worse. It heats evenly and doesn't spin around, so it's clearly making enough contact with the cooktop.The wok comes with a lot of packaging and extras, including a nice lid and a carrying bag.I had to wash the wok several times with an aggressive sponge and dish soap to get all the protective oil off it. It also appears to have some kind of preseasoning like a Lodge skillet underneath the protective oil.The string wrapped around the handles is a bad idea. It is pretty gross when it is wet, and there is no easy way to dry it, so rust will probably form on the handles. It's also probably not safe to put in the oven. I just removed it. The handles under the string have sharp edges. I may take a look at what some sandpaper will do there. On the plus side, they are part of the work and will never get loose.Since I removed the string from the handles, and the wok is entirely metal, I seasoned it in the oven. It is difficult to fully season the entire surface of a wok without a gas stove, because the sides never get hot enough. For the first seasoning I always season the outside, including the handles, to prevent rust.Overall I'd say this is pricey compared to the kind of works I used to get in Chinatown and not a lot better made, but the bottom is actually flat enough for induction and it comes with a lot of extras.

Okay but lots of work

Use it for half a year now. It is a lot of work, as you have to heat it to dry after washing. It got stain when I didn’t use it for a while and probably didn’t dry it with heat (by wiping and putting it upside down). And it is kind of hard to get rid of the grease at the bottom properly for me. I could see the burn from grease in the bottom when heating it the next time.

Suitable for Chinese cooking

Bought this pot on sale and I love it, very old style but good weight, perfect for Chinese stir fry as it will retain high heat. The key to maintenance is to always keep the pot dry and even let it retain some oil. Some people say the lid breaks quickly but I don‘t mind, I focus on the pot not the lid right?
