Changed for a middle size! Very good quality wok! My mom loves it!
This is a cast iron wok so it warms slower than carbon steel, but it keeps the heat for a longer time. It is good from stir frying Chinese dishes that needs a lot of heat where your stove is not strong enough. The wok is well made with good material, I can feel the weight but it is not too heavy for me. The flat bottom makes it compatible with most stove tops. One thing to keep in mind is that it needs to be seasoned otherwise it is going to be sticky.
Best wok ever had
We love this wok. Most traditional cast iron woks look and feel bulky and old but this one has a very modern appearance. When seasoned correctly, the Wok is nonstick and retains/distributes heat beautifully. The handle is made of wood and prevents the user from burning their hands. The bottom of the wok is flat and would work perfectly on an electric range (our range is gas). The wok is deep enough for stir frying and steaming. The only criticism I have is that the lid is flat so that steaming things that are tall might be an issue. For the price point, this wok is a great value and I would highly recommend it to anyone. You will need to periodically season the wok if not in normal constant use.
It cooks good. It looks fabulous! I've kept it well maintained n seasoned. I know how from using cast iron and carbon steel and have followed the given instructions. Why is the bottom changing? What is coming off? A coating? Is it still safe to use? Good question! I'd live to hear some feedback from the company. It's oiled and reseasoned. What happens if more comes off? Must I stop using it?Update: I think the reason for the bottom of the wok looking like that was because I used some Shaoxing Rice Wine which is acidic. It seemed to clear up after cooking meals without the wine and post seasonings . The wok cooks good but I'm still kinda wondering if this coating could come off if I used metal utensils. But it's fine overall.
How can after I purchased price is over $140, now. Even regular prices is under $95? That is cheating ! And the wok not work as well.
My honest review:The wok arrived on time, actually a day earlier. Huge thumbs up. When I first unboxed it, I thought the packaging was cool. When I first saw the wok, I was disappointed at first. I thought it was flawed. Before sending it back, I read the pamphlet that came with it and learned how it was made. It was not flawed, it was unique. It took to seasoning very greedily, I was actually surprised how fast and easy it was to season it versus my other iron cookware. Once it was seasoned, it became my favorite pan. I now use it exclusively. I love this wok.
