Astoundingly Huge, Whimsically Designed (but Well Crafted) Serrated Blade for Watermelon or Bread

This is a well-designed, VERY big serrated blade knife, suitable for watermelon but also good for cutting bread loaves. It's a whopper, more than a foot long, with its own protective sheath. The blade is extremely sharp. I haven't used it enough to see if it will stay sharp, but I'm confident it will last a long time cutting soft items like bread and watermelon rind. The handle is firmly attached to the blade. It's whimsically watermelon-colored with openings in the blade and sheath that look like watermelon seeds. I'm grateful for the sheath (or sleeve), since the knife is simply too big to store in a typical knife holder.

Seems to be excellent for the price

After cutting up a rather larger watermelon at the end of summer, I realized I really needed to look for a longer knife... bit I didn't have an interest in having a large knife that would be used only for the occasional large watermelon. I saw this knife come available through Amazon's Vine program and ordered it.Since I do bake bread (primarily focaccia and pain de mis) and detroit style pizza, the fact this knife is serrated means it wont just take up room in a drawer unless there's a watermelon. So far, it's ran through a soft pain de mis beautifully and made short work of a piece of pizza from the fridge.Quality isn't anything to write home about. It's probably better than the $9 price tag suggests, but a Wusthof or Henckles, it is not. But it is a serrated blade that will be used on bread and the occasional melon... I expect it will last for quite a while.I'm not one to nitpick, especially not on such a value minded item, but if I had to find a fault or two with this knife, it's actually in the sheeth and serrations. The sheeth is a fair bit longer than needs to be and the serrations don't extend as far on the edge of the blade as they could. But again, it's a $9 knife. At that price, it's hard to beat.
