My boyfriend was so excited about this gift that he couldn’t stop telling everyone! The set-up is very stylish and looks great on our bar cart. We’re not big drinkers ourselves, but we entertain often and his family loves whiskey, so it was the perfect gift. Fun, unique, and well-made!
I received this item for free in exchange for an honest review as part of the Amazon Vine program. I have a friend who recommended smoked bourbon, but I had never tried it myself. I do like bourbon, so this looked like a good idea.The positives:1. The barrel that holds the various parts of the product is very attractive and would make a nice gift.2. The barrel itself smells good – like freshly sawed wood.3. There are eight different ‘flavors’ of wood chips you can use to smoke your bourbon included in the set, and they are housed in separate little metal jars with screw lids to keep them fresh and dry. All components of the set are secured in the foam inside the barrel.4. While the base needs to be put together, it is only four screws (the set came with six and a screwdriver, so you don’t need any additional tools) and it was quick and easy to put it together.5. The smoker comes with a charging cord (see #3 under ‘negatives’) as well as a small spoon to use with the wood chips and a small cleaning brush.6. Once I had it charged up, the smoker was easy to use following the included instructions.7. I think this could also be used to smoke anything else you wanted to add smoke to as long as the container it’s in fits under the smoker.The negatives:1. The clasp on the barrel needs to be pushed towards the barrel a little bit for it to close, and it feels like it’s not going to last all that long (it feels a bit flimsy). I’ve only had this a week so I don’t know if it will really break, but it feels like I have to be very careful with it.2. There is nothing that holds the barrel in place on the stand. The stand is just two curved pieces of wood with a center brace. The stand itself seems sturdy enough, but you just place the barrel on it. When you open the barrel (which is hinged in the middle), the top half is so heavy that it spins the barrel on the stand. While this isn’t a major problem in terms of useability since you don’t use the smoker part in the barrel, it is a bit of an inconvenience and begs the question why there’s a stand in the first place.3. The smoker itself needs to be charged to use it. Not an issue, but at first, I didn’t think there was a charging cord included. I found it eventually, by pulling out all of the wood chip containers and looking under the foam holding them in place. It is in a small black box with the spoon and brush under the top wood chip containers.Overall I think this will be a fun product to use, but I don’t know how often I’ll actually smoke my bourbon before I drink it. If you’re someone who enjoys that, you’ll probably get a lot of use out of this product as there seems to be a lot of wood chips (the containers are each an inch high with a two-inch diameter, and each is full).Because of the concern about the clasp and stability of the barrel on the base, I’m giving this 4 stars because it works, it looks nice and those issues aren’t terrible.
Got it as a gift for my older brother and he loves it. Would recommend to any whisky drinkers. It’s super fun to use at events with family also.
This is a nice presentation. But I tried the flavored wood chips and they smelled like my house was on fire. So I will be returning!

This smoker kit piqued my interest due to its all-in-one design. Everything is neatly stored inside a small wooden barrel that serves as a decorative item for the bar. The design concept is clever, and the presentation initially seems to be unique. The small barrel looks fantastic when displayed, and I value its ability to keep the smoker and accessories organized instead of scattered in a drawer. That said, once I started using it, I noticed a few quirks that made the setup feel less polished than it appears. For one, you can’t actually open the barrel while it’s resting on the stand. It has to be removed completely or the whole thing tips over. The clasp that holds the barrel closed also feels a bit flimsy and doesn’t latch cleanly unless you force it. When opening the barrel, the foam insert that holds all the small parts and wood chip tins tends to pull out with them, since it isn’t secured to the inside. It’s manageable, but it makes grabbing what you need more fiddly than it should be.The actual smoking unit, in contrast, left an impression on me. I appreciate that it can be recharged and doesn’t need a butane torch, as this simplifies and cleans up the process. It generates a considerable amount of smoke in a short time, and the indicator lights assist you during use. Including a variety of wood chip flavors is a fun detail that contributes to an experimental vibe. You can easily try different smoke flavors based on your beverage choice or mood. Although I don’t drink a lot of whiskey myself, I got this as something to use when having friends over and to experiment with. The smoky flavor is definitely pronounced but I understand how aficionados might appreciate that rich, firepit-like scent it produces. All in all, I consider this a fun and unique gift suggestion, particularly for those who appreciate one-of-a-kind bar tools or experimenting with new cocktail variations. It looks fantastic in a home bar setup and works well after overcoming some minor design inconveniences.
