I had had a cheese slicer with a marble base previously, and this one looked more modern, so I ordered it. It is made of stainless steel and has the hinged handle with the wire cutter, as one would expect.It is well made.It seems to be a good quality stainless steel. It came with extra cutting wires. It slices well, and the wire appears fairly sharp. The only downside is that it is so light that you actually have to hold it down when slicing a block of cheese. Some type of counterweight mechanism would enhance the performance of this slicer, but for the price, it's a great product.
