New Replacement Unit Working Just Fine

Updates 10/01/2025: I have updated my review after working with the product’s company. First off, their customer service is excellent. After reading my review they reached out asking what issues I was seeing. After letting them know as well as telling them I had returned the defective unit and received a refund, they sent me a new unit free of charge. So far the unit is working as advertised. The display is very easy to read. I like the color screen vs the monochrome of the other brand I bought. Hopefully the failed sensor the first time around was just an anomaly. But so far so good. I did upgrade the rating to 5 stars as the excellent customer service really warrants 5 stars.Original review: There’s good and bad and a question. First the good - I bought this to monitor the temps in the fridge and freezer of our new RV. Setup was very easy, it started reading temps right away and I liked the idea the sensors could transmit the temps to the display from my trailer to the display I kept in my house. The readings seemed accurate as I matched them with another sensor for a clock we use to get the outside temp. Bonus was I could keep track on the high and low for each sensor. The bad - sensor #1 that I kept in the fridge quit working after 2 days. I checked the temps in the morning all was good. A little while later I checked again and the fridge temp was reading 75.4 degrees. Batteries were new. Removed the sensor from the fridge as well as the one in the freezer. Removed all batteries to reset per the instructions. After reinserting the batteries and the temps were displayed again, sensor #1 still showed over 75 degrees and it was in my house. My question - the sensors need 2 AA batteries each and the display 3 AAA batteries unless it’s being plugged in, why are batteries not included? Why 3 stars and not just one or two. This thermometer and sensor set shows promise in that it seems accurate and I don’t need to either stand next to the fridge/freezer or open the door to see the temps. But a failure after 2 days is cause to drop it a couple of stars.

It's excellent for monitoring refrigerator malfunctions.

English / SpanishIn summary:It's excellent for monitoring the approximate refrigerator temperature and setting alarms; I recommend it. I'm not giving it 5 stars only because it's slow to register the temperature and because it sometimes receives interference and the alarm is triggered (I assume it's due to my car's TPMS, which also operates at 433 MHz).In detail:Before buying it, I monitored my refrigerator with a type K thermocouple and a multimeter; it's a quick and accurate method. The freezer operates between -10 and -20 °C, and the refrigerator compartment operates between 0 and 6 °C. The defrost cycle occurs every 10 hours and lasts about 10 minutes; the temperature can briefly rise to 5 °C in the freezer. Also, when either door is opened, the temperature inside can reach 10 °C or more in the freezer or refrigerator compartment, but only for a very short time, as the temperature rises rapidly when the door is closed. With the above in mind, I wondered how this device would handle these situations and avoid triggering an alarm when the temperature rose significantly due to defrosting or opening the doors. The solution they implemented was quite ingenious... The sensors are VERY slow; they take a very long time to register the actual temperature (when installing the freezer sensor, it took over an hour to register -20°C from room temperature). Therefore, it doesn't register rapid temperature changes. This means that when one of the sensors registers a temperature, it's most likely not the actual temperature at that moment, but it's close. If you're interested in knowing the exact temperature inside the freezer or refrigerator at any given moment, this device won't be useful, but if you're interested in having an alarm in case of malfunctions, it's ideal. Furthermore, the device has a function that displays the maximum and minimum temperatures over the last 24 hours. With this information, it's much easier to define the alarm ranges.I think it's an excellent device. The alarm is loud, and if it had a way to regulate the speed at which the temperature sensors operate, it would be perfect. But for the purpose of monitoring the proper functioning of a refrigerator, it's ideal.

Works Great. Battery life is 9 months

After using for 9 months, I can say this works reliably well. Temperature reading seems accurate and the range works well for our case (70 feet through floor and 2 wells to inside the freezer or fridge). Display is generally easy to read and the alarm is LOUD. We've caught the door left open a couple of times with this alarm and that has saved us hundreds of dollars avoiding spoiled frozen meat.Note that the remote batteries (2xAA each) need to be reasonably fresh. Once voltage drops below 1.4v, you start getting false high temperature alarms every few hours. A low battery indicator would be better, but now I know to change battery in 8 to 9 months for a freezer, and probably every 12 months for a refrigerator.
