Long-range wireless, accurate, easy to use with Android or iPhone app

Use this thermometer when you can't/don't want to stay close to the grill or stove. Good wireless distance, quality, accuracy and ease of use.How it works:The temperature sensor/probe (which has a small internal rechargeable battery) is left inserted into the meat. The sensor sends a temperature signal to the base unit (red/black colored rectangle base which also has an internal rechargeable battery) which displays the target (tgt) temperature you set and the actual meat temperature. This base unit sends the temp signal to the downloaded app on your phone. The app sends a signal to your eyes in your lounge chair by the pool :-) The app and base unit alert you when the meat is five degrees below the target temp that you set, then again right at the target temp. An over-temp alarm alert at 212 deg F.Wireless distance:SENSOR (probe in the MEAT) to BASE UNIT - directions say no more than 10 feet.BASE UNIT to PHONE/APP - directions say max distance is 325 feet depending on what walls the signal has to penetrate. Mine went through two house walls and was still usable to 175 feet!You can still use it as a wireless thermometer without your phone/app (just read the temp on the base unit), but you will be limited to the base unit distance of 10 feet. Still, at least you wouldn't have to keep opening the oven door or even standing up to check a thermometer.To recharge, plug the included cord (USB C on the base unit end and USB A on the power end.) into the base unit. The sensor probe will charge at the same time as the base when it's snapped into its base unit clip. Wish it was a USB C on both ends to fit all my modern C plugs.It's easy to set up without any instructions, but the instructions are actually pretty decent - just normal Chinese weird word choices and only a few misspellings. I'll never understand why foreign companies don't have a native English speaker proofread and grammatically correct their instructions.Cons:Made for larger cuts of meat. Directions say to insert the sensor probe up to its "safety notch"... into the thickest part of the meat. That's slightly over 3 inches. This is no problem on roasts, loins, and thicker steaks, but tough for hamburgers, some chicken parts and smaller fish. I used it on a sausage patty being careful to insert it right in the middle and it worked fine.

Love It

I've been wanting a Bluetooth thermometer for my kitchen for several months and very happy with this one. I looked at several popular models that are much more expensive but always held off due to the large price tag. This model works well and is made well. It works well with my android phone and is accurate after checking the meat Temps with another thermometer. Easy to setup and use. Made a big difference in how I cook and how my meats turn out. Cooking by temperature is a fame changer rather than cooking g by timer.

Very cool, but whole probe needs to be in the meat

I'm taking away one star because of the restrictions. The entire probe has to be in the meat, from the tip to the notch near the top. First thing I used it on was bacon wrapped filet's on the grill. I had a hard time making sure the whole probe was covered. The thermometer system is way cool though! As soon as you take the probe from the "host" I think they call it, which is the size of the box. I'm keeping it in the box to keep it from getting knocked around in the kitchen drawer. So the main unit is kind of big. It is magnetic, but you can't attach it to the grill, no hot surfaces. The probe can't be in temperatures above 212 degrees, so can't use in an oven at 350, say. Lots of cautions about letting it cool, and pulling it straight out. The ceramic end is very hot, can't grab that to pull it out, use a towel or mitt to grab it. I didn't have to do anything to set it up. Downloaded the app, scan the QR code, if you search for the app you get a list of everything but. The app pretty much set itself up. Pull the probe out and they phone discovers it and connects by bluetooth. It will show the current temperature on the app screen. There is a button on the bottom to choose what food, or meat. I chose beef, they you can chose, rare, med rare, med well, well done, and the app sets the target temperature. You can watch the temperature rise on the app and when it reaches the target it will notify you. Really really fun. The host part needs to be by the probe, but you can go inside with your phone and watch the temperature. I really like it, but it's kind of limited to meat that is long enough to fit the whole probe, and under 212 degrees. Wipe off the probe and put it back in it's place and it eventually turns itself off. Comes with the cord to charge it up. This would be a great present for your grill master! The probe is thicker and strong, don't think it would bend very easily. Should hold up to a lot of use.

Convenient, but not really

While I love not having to have a wired thermometer in the smoker, the Bluetooth is not the best. My smoker is about 25 feet from my back door. The thermometer does not reach through the door. It makes this appliance a bit worthless to me. I was looking for the convenience of seeing the temperature from my kitchen or even living room couch.
