It fits as it should

This replacement worm drive gear and bracket feels made well and has good weight to it. This went in exactly like it should and I might even say that it was quite easy to install. It fit as expected and so far it has functioned exactly as intended. For the money I believe this is a very good option. Now I hope it lasts. I will update down the road about that.

Defective and Failed On Second Use

While the overall appearance was superior to the cheaper ones this one was a bit questionable. One of the dowel pin sockets was undersized and had to be machined to match the 3/16 inch pins used by KitchenAid for it to work in a K45SS mixer which was one of the models listed in the compatibility chart. After installation the mesh between the lower spur gear and the large input gear to the planetary was a bit tighter than I would have liked. I will pack it with grease and run under a load to see if it seats in better or if it has to come out and be exchanged.Note that the top dowel pin instead of being a 3/16 inch steel pin in a socket was cast in and just an aluminum stub that is a bit shorter than the steel pin on the OEM part.11/08/2025 - Unfortunately the gear failed under load on the second use while making bread dough. Thankfully I was able to finish kneading the dough with my own much older K45SS mixer which completed the job without issue. My daughter will have to wait until we can get a better gearset from another source since this one is, as we suspected, unacceptable for much more than general purpose mixing and whipping but not very good for bread making with low hydration dough or for pasta. This also means that a $7 container of food grade grease has been wasted and also needs to be replaced.
