This dish holds two skinny sticks of butter. I leave the butter dish on the counter. The butter softens to room temperature. It's nice and soft when I go to use it on toast, for cooking, and baking. Love the dish!
This is a beautiful and well-made butter dish. It is very thick, strong glass. I actually was able to put 6 sticks of butter in the dish by allowing them to soften and them creaming together. I use this with my Blackstone griddle and it does the job. Keeps bugs and bees out of the butter when not in use, but easy to spoon out when I need it.
It's roomy for 1 lb of butter, love it! My be a bit heavy for someone with arthritis of the hands. Like the tight seal!

Nicer than I expected. I bought 3 of theseButter dishes. I make my own butter. I'm getting ready to order 1 more. My family makestheir own butter.
I used to keep my butter in the refrigerator, but decided to start keeping it in a container on my countertop. I use Kerrygold butter and it fits perfectly. Bought this one because of the glass dish so I can immediately see how much is in there. Rather than use the little knife, I use a regular or plastic knife to get and spread the butter.
Love this because it holds the Costco bricks of butter. Always hated having to cut them in half to fit in the traditional rectangle butter dishes. Way less messy too.
