Smoother mashed potatoes with this potato ricer
This is my first time using a potato ricer. I generally use an old fashioned potato masher, and there are usually a few lumps. Not necessarily a bad thing, but this potato ricer makes light fluffy mashed potatoes, with no lumps. And I think it would work great making refried beans or practically any baby food. It does require a little hand strength, and I have to use both hands, so keep that in mind, if you have problems with your hands. The reason I took off one star, is because the little plates just sit in there, and after each use, the one I used stuck to the other side, and I would have to unstick it before I refilled with boiled potatoes to rice. Otherwise, it's great. And less trouble than a food processor or other machine you could use. I'm glad I ordered it, and it works if the power goes out!

massive disappointment
okay, had this a while now, and i'm not impressed. i TRIED to give this every chance to be a useful tool, but honestly, it is turning into more and more of a waste. the "only" thing it has "riced", was boiled potatoes. somehow, it doesn't seem to have enough... torque?... to "rice" any other vegetable, from raw to overly cooked. i was hoping for something that i could use for quick squishing vegetation without having to pull out the food processor, but sadly, this has failed in that goal. frankly even with the potatoes, it left way too much product "in" the ricer, instead of pressed out. i ended up just rough mashing the rest of the potatoes with my meat "chopper" utensil.oh, and the ricer has tried to cut me several times, with what seem to be sharper edges on the handles than on the inserts. all in all, this has been a massive disappointment. :/

Will do the job
Stainless steel potato ricer comes with 3 discs with various size holes. I liked the texture of the potato, nice and creamy. Using this for the first time, I found that the whole thing was a bit awkward for me to use. I know it probably is easier to clean if all the parts are separate, but I found that the inserted disc would always stick to the plunging piece after the potato went through. Then the cup piece would jump around a bit too. Overall, I like the ricer and will use to make gnocchi soon, just not to fond of all the moving pieces.

Love it!
We make gnocchi and mashed potatoes frequently and this makes it easier to prepare. We usually cook the potatoes in the microwave so this tool works for us.

Great quality for the price
Potato ricers are the best option for lump-free mashed potatoes. The best can be quite expensive, but this is an option that works for most budgets. The attachments allow for other uses, such as making homemade spaetzle.Sometimes a bit difficult to clean, but no more so than similar models. All in all, this is a great tool that seems sturdy enough to last.

Easy to use!
This potato ricer works great! I love how well made it is. The stainless steel is strong and durable. It is compact and the extra size plates store right inside the ricer. It opens wide for easy use and easy cleaning. Best of all it makes quick and even work of mashing potatoes. I would highly recommend this terrific ricer!
