Fantastic product, if a bit heavy. Ignore the clueless bad reviews.

Easily the best wok I’ve ever used. Heats up so so fast, and cooks leafy vegetables in under a minute. If you use enough oil, nothing will stick, and any residue will come off with a little scrub of steel wool under just water. (If you don’t want to use adequate oil while cooking, a traditional wok is not the right kind of cooking method for you.)All the reviews of people saying it rusted or that the seasoning “came off” after the first use obviously didn’t read the very clear and very simple instruction sheet and don’t know what they’re talking about. This dark colour on the wok is an oxidative layer created by putting animal oil on very hot metal. That’s the seasoning and is the traditional method cooks have used for hundreds of years. As the instruction manual clearly states, if you cook with anything acidic (tomato, vinegar, lemon), the seasoning WILL come off. That’s what happened in all the photos that show the white metal showing through. It’s not a big deal if food isn’t sticking to the white part. Just continue to wash with water, drying over hot fire and putting a little oil on the clean wok every time you use it. If it starts sticking, re-season the wok according to the very clear instructions or look up their YouTube channelHonestly, why can’t people be bothered to read instructions before posting clueless reviews? The only bad thing about this is that it’s freaking heavy. I’m around 5’8 and 130lbs and don’t lift weights or anything, so I ordered the medium size with the wooden handle. Basically, it’s heavy when empty, and it takes bracing myself to lift the wok when it has food inside. I have to engage my core and grip it near the top of the handle. It’s definitely doable and I can get food out on my own, but it’s definitely not effortless. It’ll get easier as my arm gets stronger over time?

A very nicely made wok!

I'm very happy with this Wok. It is expensive, but worth it in my opinion. We cook every day at our house, so having well made and functional kitchen equipment makes the task that much more enjoyable. I prepared the wok as instructed in the included materials and everything went very well. No sticking food that could not be removed with a little hot water after cooking and almost nothing stuck to the surface during cooking. There is extra care involved with an iron construction (drying completely, applying an oil layer after use) but I already knew this from having cast iron frying pans in the past. The included materials about the artisan that made the wok was a nice touch. I used my phones camera/translate feature to read it as it was in Chinese :). This looks to be a tool that we will use for a very long time. I would also recommend purchasing the trivet that the manufacture offers to set the wok on once you remove it from heat.

This will ruin all other works for you

I have a pot-problem. I've owned and used woks daily. Here's my assessment: The workmanship is exquisite. It has a deluxe, hand-crafted feel. If your cooking style is to stir fry, this is perfect. It has a nice thickness and is very steady on my stove. If you like to toss and flip, this is probably not for you as it's heavy. Mine weights 4.5 lbs. But what a Smooth Operator...the surface is like butta'.Seasoning was easy. It turned a beautiful blue and I oiled it right away. The outside arrived a little rusty, but I was able to scrub it and protect it with oil while seasoning. Performance is excellent with great heat retention. Food browning is perfect. This bowl shape really hits a sweet-spot -i t's pure joy to stir food in! Because it has a wider surface area, this 13.5" wok holds as much food as my regular 14.5" wok. If you admire beautiful and well made objects, this one's for you. It classes up the joint. But beware if this is your first wok...it will ruin all other woks for you!A special shout-out to Sunny. My box got damaged during shipping. The handle (which was pre-attached to the wok) also arrived damaged. Sunny was super quick to respond and sent me a replacement in one day. Great customer service. Thank you.

Don't buy this!

I would give a 0 if possible. There is not any difference from regular and much cheaper ones. No any benefit for paying so high a price.

A 'wok' of art

This wok is markedly more expensive than others but after two weeks of regular use I would say the expense was justified. The craftsmanship is so exceptional that it is beautiful to look at; other woks will 'get the job done' but are more pedestrian in appearance. We also found that it is about a half pound lighter than other wood-handled woks of the same size -- useful when lifting it to turn the contents into a serving dish. We use it on a natural gas burner that puts out 18,000 BTU. I had been wondering whether the wood handle would get scorched but there is actually no sign of this. (We use a wok ring to keep it centered over the flame.) With recommended care, it is becoming more and more non-stick as we use it. The one small regret I have is that I mistakenly ordered the pre-seasoned version. The blue-black finish was more bluish than I believe can be obtained by simply heating the bare metal over a flame, as seasoning requires. As we use it, it is quickly becoming the dark gray we expected. We don't detect any metallic or other flavors in the food, but for our peace of mind I wish had ordered the unseasoned version (bare silvery metal) so we would control the seasoning ourselves and know exactly what went into it. Out last wok lasted 47 years; maybe I should add to this review when this new wok reaches the 47-year mark?
